I just got back from an amazing trip to Japan with my bf, Kevin and my new friend from Chiang Mai, Aman. Nope! The stories are not done.. I just want to do a compilation of all things green! Japan, as I mentioned many times these past few posts, was an absolute foodie heaven! We went all out and indulged in all things green tea and matcha related, ayyy, did we have a blast!
One of the most memorable dishes we tried was the green tea soba in Shimonoseki (almost my most fav city this time in Japan!). I've had soba noodles before, but green tea noodles?! Mind blown! It had a slightly different taste than regular soba, but it was definitely delicious.
We also tried a rice dish that was served with green tea poured on top. It was a unique experience, as we got to choose our own toppings to go with it. I never knew that green tea could be used in so many different ways in food!
And of course, we couldn't resist trying all the matcha drinks and desserts. We went to Starbucks and were amazed to find a matcha latte and even a matcha donut! Imagine a green dough donut with matcha glazed and filled with matcha custard LOLOL!!! Triple greens!
But the real star of the show was the matcha ice cream. I swear, wherever you stop by and get one of those, it's always intense and flavorful, as if they poured a whole pile of matcha into it. I couldn't get enough of it!
Overall, Japan's green tea and matcha offerings did not disappoint. I've become completely addicted to all things matcha, and can't wait to go back and try even more dishes. If you're a foodie like me, watch out next time you're in Japan.. totally could become addicted to All Things Green!
