Hello everyone! Today I am going to share some pictures of a housewarming function I attended recently. My cousin just got a new home and did a small function to celebrate it and invited my family and I. It was also an opportunity for us to see his new home. It was so beautiful and had a calm, zen vibe. The home was also spacious and neat with a pleasant view for the eyes. There was a large balcony which I thought will be a great space for chilling and just relaxing while sipping tea.
So in order to avoid the fuss of preparing a full meal for many people, my cousin chose to order a catering of homemade food. These are all the items in the list. I did a small help to get some of the items home.
This is rice that was freshly cooked. It was still warm when they brought it.
This is the picture I took without the flash which is why it looks a little dull. Unlike usual housewarming parties, my cousin included non-vegetarian dishes as well because we did not do any prayers as they were done before. This was just a small party of lunch for close friends and family.
The item on the top left is chicken with gravy. It was made well with many spices and tasted yummy. The item on the top right is mixed vegetables which includes carrots, cauliflowers, peas and a leafy vegetable that I forgot what it was. The item on the bottom left is fried tauhu with chilli while the item on the bottom right is fried long beans.
This is dhal curry with the lid on. An item I forgot to take picture of is the pappadam which is just a side cracker.
This is the table and we were beginning to set it. I poured a glass of water for everyone. My aunt served us the food in silverware trays. It is actually the traditional way of eating meals.
This is mutton with spicy gravy which was cooked by my aunt. It was so yummy.
This is the dhal (lentils curry). It is a nutritious curry with vegetables and spices.
This is the rice which my aunt served during offering made to ancestors who have passed away. She served it to us as well.
Here's my hearty meal. It was nice to have many side items and filling for the tummy. I was already hungry at this point.
I forgot to include one more item which is the mutton gravy. I added it and took another picture.
Here's a bonus picture of the view from the balcony. There were mountains and since it was a rainy day, they appeared foggy. I am not posting pictures with zoomed out view for privacy purposes.
