¡Feliz inicio de semana estimados amigos!. Para hoy les traigo esta receta de un desayuno muy venezolano. La harina de maíz es un ingrediente y alimento común en mi país, sea en el desayuno o la cena mayormente, y una de las formas de hacer es la arepa. La arepa se puede rellenar de muchas formas y en esta ocasión la hice con sardinas en lata y vegetales, una ensalada muy sabrosa y nutritiva. Para aquellos que no conocen la arepa, aquí se las muestro con otra manera de preparar y de rellenar. ¡Espero les guste!, y buen provecho.
Happy start to the week dear friends! For today I bring you this recipe for a very Venezuelan breakfast. Corn flour is a common ingredient and food in my country, mostly for breakfast or dinner, and one of the ways to make it is the arepa. The arepa can be filled in many ways and this time I made it with canned sardines and vegetables, a very tasty and nutritious salad. For those who do not know the arepa, here I show you with another way to prepare and fill. I hope you like it! And enjoy your meal.

- 1 lata de sardinas en aceite, 4 ajíes dulces, 1 tomate maduro, 1 ramita de cebollin, 1 ramita de cilantro, sal al gusto, mantequilla, 2 tazas de harina de maíz (para 3 arepas medianas).
- 1 can of sardines in oil, 4 sweet peppers, 1 ripe tomato, 1 sprig of chives, 1 sprig of coriander, salt to taste, butter, 2 cups of cornmeal (for 3 medium arepas).

- Lavamos y cortamos finamente el cebollín, cilantro, tomate y ajíes dulces.
- Wash and finely chop the chives, coriander, tomato and sweet peppers.
- Abrimos la lata de sardinas y vamos agregando con su aceite.
- We open the can of sardines and add with their oil.
- Añadimos las sardinas y vamos mezclando con los vegetales.
- Add the sardines and mix with the vegetables.
- Le añadimos sal al gusto y mezclamos muy bien los ingredientes para que absorban los sabores y reservamos.
- We add salt to taste and mix the ingredients very well to absorb the flavors and reserve.
- En un tazón añadimos un poco de agua, una pizca de sal y agregamos la harina y amasamos hasta crear una masa suave.
- In a bowl add a little water, a pinch of salt and add the flour and knead until creating a smooth dough.
- Calentamos el sartén, hacemos las arepas en forma circular y colocamos a asar a temperatura media.
- We heat the pan, make the arepas in a circle
shape and place them to roast at medium temperature.
- Las vamos volteando hasta que estén echas, un aproximado de 8 min por lado.
- We are turning them until they are done, an approximate of 8 min per side.
- Apagamos la cocina y ya tenemos listas las arepas.
- We turn off the kitchen and we have the arepas ready.
- Procedemos a abrirlas y les untamos mantequilla.
- We proceed to open them and spread them butter.
- Las vamos rellenando a nuestro gusto con la ensalada y terminamos.
- We fill them to our liking with the salad and finish.
