I decided to add a little creative twist to my plate by transforming a local, traditional dish to a beautiful Christmas tree.
Okra soup is a traditional soup that showcases different beautiful colors especially green, making it the right dish for my little creative food art.
I used my fufu (a product of cassava) to create the trunk of my tree, though the fufu is white in colors and not brown, which is the expected color of a tree trunk.
I poured my okra soup at the top of the fufu, in a manner that makes it resemble the tree's green foliage, and with the help of my fresh pepper, i added more colors to it.
This plate right here also showcased a different beauty.
Using my local delicacy (okra and fufu) i designed a beautiful treats.
These treats looks just like a dessert or fun snacks and they also showcased a beautiful Christmas color.
Aside the beauty the plating portrays, it taste really nice.
I prepared my okra soup with fresh fish and crayfish which added great, flavorful taste to the soup.
Here are the ingredients used and the procedure followed..
- 3 cups of okra
- 1/8 cup of grounded ogbono
- 1/2cup of palm oil
- 1 meduim sized fresh fish
- 1/2cup of crayfish
- a hand ful of uziza leaves
- a handful of fresh pepper
- salt to taste
- 2 seasoning cubes
- 2 fufu or more(a finished product of processed cassava)
- 1 medium sized onions
Okra soup is a quick and easy meal and anyone who knows how to prepare it, will agree with me that it tajes not less than 25 minutes to prepare.
It requires just this following few steps.
Wash the fish using just water and salt , then transfer to a clean pot.
Add your sliced onion, pounded fresh pepper, salt and a cube of seasoning.
Add half cup of water and allow the fish to boil.

Add your palm oil to the boiling fish, allow to boil ,then add your grounded ogbono, cover and allow to continue boiling.
Wash and Slice your okra and set aside.
Also wash and pick the uziza leave with both hands . Pound or blend the crayfish .
Add the sliced okra to the boiling pot of soup, also add the crayfish and stir.
Allow for 2 minutes then add the uziza leaves, stir and remove from heat.
Now serve with your fufu (cassava product).
I bought an already processed fufu from the market, so i only needed to serve.
Fresh fish has a way of elevating the taste of any good food and okra soup is no exception.
It gave it a nice and aromatic flavor.
What do you think about my food art?,
do you love it?
Should i create more food art?
I want to hear from you in the comments.
