FOODIE: Quick and easy Dorito Nachos at Home!

in Foodies Bee Hive3 years ago

Good day Hivers all over and especially my Foodie comrades who just love making - and love eating great food! Here in South Africa it is possible to get proper nacho chips, but often at a premium of price! So the cheap and easy alternative is to opt for Doritos!

In fact, I am pretty sure that several restaurants use Doritos when they run out of nachos. Just cover it with topping!

Anyway, I had a craving and I had avocados. Motive and the means, guilty as charged! And this is how I made it!

Starting off you will need some onions, tomato, green pepper, cheese, avocado and Doritos. I also made potato wedges for the table. This food would be for our movie night munching.

Thus I had a pot for frying up the wedges, and a pan to prepare the toppings.

First step is to wash and cut potato wedges, then chop and dice some onion, tomato and green pepper.

Some of the tomato and onion shall be used raw for thr garnish so leave some aside for that.

While the wedges are frying, start brazing some onions till they are golden brown! I like to add garlic this stage.

Then I added a pack of mince because I like mine meaty. You could keep it vegetarian if you wanted to, or experiment with toppings.

Getting brazen onion and garlic together with the meat does give it a wonderful flavor.

For additional flavor I used the rest of what remained of @clairemobey's chili CRACK. I then added the tomato and the green pepper and started preheating the oven.

On a tray I laid out a layer of Cheese Doritos and then covered it with my topping, making sure that there was an uncovered edge. This is so you can grab a chip from the outside more easily.

I then covered it with cheese...

... lots of cheese...

I then stuck that in the oven and grilled it till the cheese was all melted and golden brown.

Topped that with guacamole and garnish and done! So delicious!

A weekend feast! Everyone got side plates and dished out what they wanted.

But it was absolutely demolished! I will have to make this again!

Here is a very happy @merenludick who adores nachos of course!

Until next time.

Cheers!
