Old school Financial Analyst Blasted On Twitter/X on his Views on Sleep!

I was lurking on Twitter as always when I bumped into quote retweets from one of the popular television stations in my home country Uganda.

It so happens that the TV station known as NTV shared one of their morning program segments on their Twitter account, and yo!

The message shared in the program did not sit well with Twitter folks hehe including me too.

Here below is the screenshot of the tweet that caused a stir.

As you can see from the caption of the tweet that reads,

Reduce your sleep hours, and you'll improve your financial situation. -Ssuubi Victor Mutebi, Financial Adviser

You don't need to watch or understand the video as the caption says it all hehe.

In the Tweet Video which can be found here, he breaks down how people waste lots of time sleeping and how that would derail peoples financial situation over the years.

He gave a real-life scenario of a person who sleeps at 8 pm and wakes up at 7 am hence sleeping for 11 hours.

He said that person lost 11 hours daily, he went ahead to calculate how many hours this person loses in an average month of 30 days

Hence, 11 hours x 30 days = 330 hours monthly.

He broke it down further with an example of a person who has been sleeping 11 hours from the age of 18 to 25 years, ie that is a 7-year difference.

So in the 7 years from 18-25 years, this person lost 330 hours(monthly) x 7 years x 12 months = 27,720 hrs

Anyway, let me stop here because he went on further to calculate the ratio in terms of years lost in sleep in these 7 years!

His calculations and his message were right if you dig deeper, we shall come to this later.

Let's dive into the Twitter Criticism

Twitter Users Blast Old-School Financial Analyst

Most Twitter folks weren't happy with this financial advisor's take on sleeping for long hours and they were right with their reasons as shown below.

Most of the people who commented just left laughing emojis without context ie "

One Twitter user using the display HornyBaby said

He is quite stupid. Sleep is a very important part of health lifestyle. It is about what you do, not how long. His approach to life is outdated.

This person was really tough and btw he wasn't the only one who called this analyst stupid!

Many other people called him stupid just using different variations hehe.

Another user said with the display name Tusiime Christopher had this to say

If this was accurate, askaris would be the richest. One day, I will slap a motivational speaker or fake financial adviser.

For context, an askari here is a local way of saying a night watchman or night guard.

There were also many variations of the above.

Comments Similar To My Thinking

I rarely reply or comment on Twitter as I practice self-restraint, I mostly comment on hilarious posts like memes and the like.

These comments or replies resonated with me

A Twitter user with display name Tony Otoa had this to say,

Nonsense! Today’s world is about efficiency! Machines have made work hours shorter. AI is coming to even make it shorter to allow you sleep 20 hours if you like. We are not in the 60s where effort had a direct correlation with time. It’s all about working smart so you can free up your time to do the things you love

I loved this reply because it talks about how the world has moved on from the traditional way of doing things to the smarter way, especially with the advent of AI.

Another user with the display name Kabugo had this to say,

Rubbish!
We are no longer in the age of 12 hours daylight Vs 12 hours darkness. Technology is enabling us to accomplish tasks more accurately and faster. We've evolved. We can even choose to rise up at 3am just because something has clicked like lightening.

The above reply also resonated with me because he too talks of how tech is enabling people to accomplish more tasks.

My Take on This

As I said earlier the above two comments deeply resonated with me because I'm a person who is so much into tech and I have used and seen tech do lots of stuff hence giving me freedom.

I can actually sleep while earning a few dollars from my staked crypto hence I'm working passively however little I may earn!

There are many opportunities people can take advantage of that do not need them to be actively working.

Why The Old Scholl Financial Advisor is Right Though!

I remember earlier in this post saying that this financial analyst is right, let me explain.

We should not forget that not all people are privileged to new and useful information!

The information he passed along is true but outdated, to him and his audience, people who watch TV the information is correct as per their thinking.

I am sure most of the people who watch TV do not have access to the internet and if they have, they use it for doomscrolling and watching comedy skits!

The stir was caused because the information meant for the TV audience was shared on the internet!

It has to be noted that people who watch TV and those who are on Twitter do not think similarly!

You can argue about this, but go and do your homework.

I called this advisor old school because this info he was passing around here worked back in the day.

Back in the day especially in Africa, you had to work hard to make it.

It is disturbing to here even with the advent of the internet people still want to work hard hehe.

Anyway what are your thoughts on this fainancial advisors views on sleeping?

Love
Jarau Moses
