Hello dear colleagues, after a long time, here I am again :)
As we can see on Google main page, today is Earth day.
Parole for this year is Invest in our planet.
How planet looks like on this day?
Think this photo, made by kids from my school, is saying more than words.
We made this collage after contemplating about what is happening with the Earth and looking at the different sources of info.
Big letters are Planet is sick - Now what? and on the yellow post-its are some of the answers.
Next photo is showing a sketch made by a pupil, within few minutes, while we were brainstorming about the concept of panel (actually two of them but other is not finished yet).
One side represents potential strengths and on the other list is what is contributing to damages.
She is multitalented, amazing girl, and I hope she will soon become member of crypto community (am working on that already :D) and be able to bring benefits of her potentials to us and to herself, with NFT for example :)
What we have on the Fairy side is, somehow still standing resources of nature, air, water, Sun, and still bearable weather; on the Grim reaper side are: climate change, fossil fuel pollution, direct human pollution and wars.
Talking with the kids in school in different occasions, I can hear them speaking about hypocrisy of politicians, sometimes more mature than many adults; they recognize falseness of their actions while speaking about green agendas while not prepared to take required actions, speaking about freedom and better future while pushing us into fear of each other, hatred and wars; I feel very sad for them while feeling their anger, sadness and disappointment in adults for leaving them and their children very sick planet.
It is no wonder why they spend so much time in virtual reality, they often feel like not being part of this reality, for given reasons.
I am proud of each one who is, on personal level, taking some actions to make this world a better place. And bcs of young like that, somewhere deep inside, I still have hope that humanity is not already lost and that the planet still has a chance to be better.
Invest in out planet! Be the part of the cure, not the part of the sickness!
This will be the message on the second panel that we are going to finish next week.
Until then, some countries already declared Overshoot day for the year, Doomsday clock is ticking, it is 100 seconds to midnight, it is The final countdown :(((
Did you somehow give respect to the Earth day?
WOW, that Fairy/Grim girl certainly has talent! Regardless if she'll explore the NFT route or not, she 'must' use her talent to bring whatever she wants to bring to us peeps through art. Obviously, its not a must and all :) Glad you are stimulating her :)
Grand topics you discuss at school with the kids. I remember we did this as well at school when I was a pupil, but not to a large extent, to be honest. A bit of a shame, since any changes in societies happen with new generations. Therefore stimulating these new generations when they are young, is super important. Am glad you do that at school with your pupils.
