Heute möchte ich euch gerne von einem tollen Tag am Rhein in Grieth, das liegt am Niederrhein bei Rees und Kalkar, berichten.
Dort hat ein guter und altbekannter Goldwäscher eine schöne Stelle gefunden, wo man auch mit mehreren Highbänkern hingehen könnte. So postete er einen Bericht in unserer Facebook-Gruppe, in dem er uns alle herzlich einlud, an einem bestimmten Tag ebenfalls nach Grieth zu kommen und gemeinsam mit ihm an der Stelle nach Gold zu schürfen.
Dem Aufruf bin ich gefolgt. Ebenso wie Dutzende anderer Rheingoldwäscher, die alle mit ihren Anlagen nach Grieth kamen. Auch einige Neuankömmlinge kamen, um sich das Ganze live anzuschauen. Einige hatten nichts dabei, andere hatten bereits eine Goldwaschpfanne gekauft und machten unter Anleitung die ersten Schritte.
Fernando und ich bauten zunächst unsere komplette Ausrüstung auf und richteten sie aus. Danach suchten wir uns eine Stelle, von der wir annahmen, dass es sich dort lohnt. Wir achten immer darauf, dass wir niemandem im Weg sind oder dass wir Material bekommen, wo schon jemand anderes sein Loch gräbt.

Aber die Sandbank war so groß, dass jeder so viel Platz hatte, dass er sich ausbreiten konnte, wie er wollte. Und das haben alle getan. Immer wieder standen wir zusammen, unterhielten uns lange oder verständigten uns nur durch Rufe. Es war wirklich wild.
Bei jedem Cleanout (Endauswaschung) kamen alle zusammen, um die Ausbeute zu begutachten und zu vergleichen, welcher Abschnitt und welche Tiefe mehr Gold bringen konnte. Aber im Durchschnitt waren wir alle gleich.
Wir haben bestimmt 5 Stunden lang geschürft, bis die ersten zusammenpackten und nach Hause fuhren.
Fernando und ich sind normalerweise die letzten, die gehen, also beschlossen wir, nach kurzer Zeit einzupacken. Danach saßen wir in einer gemütlichen Runde und lauschten den Geschichten und Erzählungen der anderen, was so ein Treffen noch mehr zu einem Erlebnis macht, denn es werden wirklich tolle und schöne Erlebnisse erzählt.
Oft tauschen wir unsere Funde vom dem letzten Mal aus, vergleichen sie und meistens stellt sich raus, dass die besten Funde an denselben Orten gemacht wurden nur zu unterschiedlichsten Zeiten.
Mit der Abenddämmerung heißt es auch für uns so langsam Abschied von den Jungs und Mädels zu nehmen und langsam Richtung Auto zu marschieren.
Die Fahrt von Grieth nach Hause oder Köln dauert in der Regel etwa 2 Stunden, sodass ich nach einem langen Schürftag froh bin, die Füße hochlegen zu können und den Rest des Abends mit meiner Familie zu verbringen.

Today I would like to tell you about a great day on the Rhine in Grieth, which is located on the Lower Rhine near Rees and Kalkar.
There a good and old known gold panner found a nice spot, where you could also go with several highbanks. So he posted a report in our Facebook group, in which he cordially invited all of us to also come to Grieth on a certain day and dig for gold together with him at the spot.
I answered the call. as did dozens of other Rhine gold panners, all of whom came to Grieth with their rigs. Some newcomers also came to see it live. Some had nothing with them, others had already bought a gold panning pan and made the first steps under guidance.
Fernando and I first set up and aligned all our equipment. After that we looked for a place where we thought it would be worthwhile. We always make sure that we are not in anyone's way or that we get material where someone else is already digging their hole.

But the sandbar was so big that everyone had enough room to spread out as they wanted. And that's what everyone did. Again and again we stood together, talking for a long time or communicating just by shouting. It was really wild.
At each cleanout (final washout), everyone got together to review the haul and compare which section and depth could yield more gold. But on average, we were all the same.
We must have been prospecting for 5 hours before the first ones packed up and went home.
Fernando and I are usually the last to leave, so we decided to pack up after a short time. Afterwards we sat in a cozy round and listened to each other's stories and tales, which makes such a meeting even more of an experience, because really great and beautiful experiences are told.
Often we exchange our finds from the last time, compare them and usually it turns out that the best finds were made in the same places only at different times.
With the dusk it is also for us so slowly to say goodbye to the boys and girls and slowly march towards the car.
The drive from Grieth to home or Cologne usually takes about 2 hours, so after a long day of prospecting I'm happy to put my feet up and spend the rest of the evening with my family.
