RE: German car company future - Audi and Mercedes are not dead yet

I've always loved German cars but have never owned one. It's my dream to, some day, own a vintage Porsche (356 or 911) or a VW Beetle. Some German models have legendary performance and reliability. I think they get somewhat of an undeserved bad reputation here in the US because Americans don't always want to do the regular maintenance that some German cars require. A lot of Americans just want a car that is hard to kill and requires little maintenance like a Honda or Toyota.

Sort:

Even I am German and kind of proud about cars in general (declining my love though) I never wanted to own a Porsche (in terms of such cars i been more a Ferrari guy), VW is ok (they are my client so can not say something negative) but not my kind of car (especially their own gear mechanism striked me when I first drve VW Käfer and Golf).

Understand the American approach toward no maintenance cars such as Toyota - on the other hand i loved these American big car in the 1950ies/60ies movies. But ahrd to find a parking space.
