Netflix muss Abonnenten in Österreich 30 Euro zurückzahlen wegen unrechtmäßiger Preiserhöhungen in 2019 und 2020.
Habe von Netflix eine E-Mail bekommen, dass sie einen Vergleich mit der Arbeiterkammer wegen unzulässiger Preiserhöhungen geschlossen haben.
Der Preis wurde für das Standard-Abo jeweils um 1 Euro erhöht, in 2019 von 10.99 Euro auf 11.99 und dann später in 2020 auf 12.99, was es bis jetzt kostet.
Warum die Erhöhung nicht rechtskonform war, ist übrigens weder in der Aussendung der Arbeiterkammer noch auf der Vergleich-Website ersichtlich.
Dürfte vermutlich mit irgendeiner Regulierung zusammenhängen, die diesmal im Sinne der Kunden ausgefallen ist.
Trotzdem bleiben die Preise erhöht und werden vermutlich bald wieder erhöht.
Preiserhöhungen können in einer freien Marktwirtschaft nicht komplett wegreguliert werden.
Im Endeffekt ist auch nicht so viel gewonnen, für die 30 Euro wurde vermutlich ein großer mehrjähriger, bürokratischer Aufwand betrieben.
Trotzdem ist es cool, dass das die Arbeiterkammer durchgefochten hat und Netflix-Abonnenten bis zu 30 Euro zurückbekommen und dass Firmen Preise generell transparent erhöhen müssen, ist auch gut.
Was sagt ihr dazu? Wart ihr 2019/2020 in Österreich Netflix-Abo-Kunden? Habt ihr auch das E-Mail erhalten? Viele dachten zuerst es wäre Fake.

I received an email from Netflix that they have reached a settlement with the Austrian Chamber of Labor for unlawful price increases.
The price for the standard subscription was increased by 1 euro each time, in 2019 from 10.99 euros to 11.99 and then later in 2020 to 12.99, which is what it costs until now.
Incidentally, it is not clear in the Chamber of Labor's press release or on the settlement website why the increase was not legally compliant in the first place.
It is probably related to some kind of regulation, which this time turned out to be interpreted in the interests of customers.
Nevertheless, prices remain increased and will probably be raised again soon.
Price increases cannot be completely regulated away in a free market economy.
At the end of the day, there is not much to be gained, as the 30 euros is a one-time compensation only and probably involved a great, multi-year, bureaucratic process.
Nevertheless, it's cool that the Chamber of Labor has fought through this and that Netflix subscribers will get up to 30 euros back and that companies generally have to increase prices transparently is also good thing.

Forced refund or not, those predatory tactics might be beneficial in the short term. However, in the long term, people will resort to piracy if their services get more expensive and also worse over time. Especially when the cost of living is increasing and people need to start cutting non-essential costs.
In my country, you will never get a refund.

Havent tried receiving refund from netflix. The price of subscription in Austria is quite expensive.

Wurden hier ggf. Fristen nicht eingehalten, Jahresabos direkt erhöht statt nach Laugzeit ende?
In Deutschland geht der Verbraucherschutz gegen Amazon vor wegen der neu eingeführten Werbung, da dies einer Preiserhöhung gleich kommt und es den Kunden einfach aufgedrückt wurde. Ggf könnte das Netflix auch passieren. Ich muss nun für mein Basisabo glaube 2 Euro mehr zahlen (für Neukunden gibt's das Abo nicht mehr) weil ich nicht weniger Zahlen wollte, aber dann mit Werbung. Und die Standard kostet dann nochmal 5 Euro oder so mehr.
Langsam überlege ich die ganzen Abos zu kündigen und nur noch Monatsweisr buchen wenn ich mal was durch bingen kann. Nervt eh immer auf die nächste Staffel zu warten.

Ich denke der Basic Tarif wurde damals nicht erhöht, nur die beiden anderen.
