Review Of The Kidnapping Day

in CineTV2 days ago

I always say that I love plot twists, but the twists and unexpected turns in this particular Korean drama got my whole brain twisted. Imagine kidnapping a child and then later doing everything she asks of you because she’s a genius and knows how to work you up. I’m talking about going to the extreme of giving up your life if need be just to protect her. And that was the mystery surrounding the whole movie in the first place.

The Kidnapping Day is a Korean series about a man who kidnapped a girl and later found out she was a genius. The initial plan was to demand ransom from the girls’ rich parents for the his dying daughter’s surgery. But after the kidnap, the girl's parents were found dead at their residence.

I mean, of course, everyone suspected the kidnapper in the first place. I would have done the same thing too. But on second thought, why would a kidnapper kill the people he would ask for the ransom from? Okay, maybe things went south, so he just had to. So why would he still be keeping the girl?

You see what I mean by the plot in this movie being so twisted that it twisted my brain? I asked so many questions throughout. But the one thing I liked in this movie was that the twists were unraveled gradually. Unlike some movies, where they just hit you with something unexpected, for the kidnapping day, you’d see it coming.

I loved the acting in this movie so much. From the kidnapper himself to the genius girl she kidnapped to the detectives. I think my favorite character in this movie was the lead detective. He showed strong character of leadership, and even when nobody saw the strange signs between the kidnapper and the victim, he did. Even when his higher-ups were telling him to give up the case, he stood his ground to make sure the case got solved.

I also loved the cinematography, and I’m not even surprised because I know how the Korean movie industry goes all out for their movies. The angles for moving cars, inside the houses, and all the fights that happened in the movie were great. Although there were scenes shot in dark places, they didn’t miss out on the relevant things that needed to be visible to the viewers.

The only thing that didn’t make sense for me was the kidnapper’s behavior. He was too perfect. He made it obvious that he wanted to protect the girl at all costs, but to the point of wanting to give up his life? That was just too much, especially because he even had a daughter. And the other part, where he wasn’t even bothered about getting the money anymore for his daughter’s surgery, was just off.

I believe the lesson I learned from this movie was mainly about wishing to have the lives people are living. Everyone is probably going through a lot, and until you go closer, you’d never know. I wished I had the rich life the genius girl had in the beginning but after having a glimpse of what her real life was like; nobody told me to sit back and drink my zobo (hibiscus juice) in peace. Let’s leave this series at a 8.3/10.

Thank you for the support

I could already picture watching the film already by the review. They definitely messed with the wrong daddy's little girl.

Oh yeah, that’s true.

A nice review!
The rich also cry.

I love movies that will twist your brain, leaving you with so many questions coming up, then answering all of it just after the end of it because they start to unravel lots of things that makes you say, "Yes, this is it." In the end, you had a great watch.

Yes, I did.
