This film is an amalgam of genres, we have thriller, we have survival, we have action and above all, and a total surprise for me, we have a lot of comedy.
In fact it is a good thing that the film has opted for a more casual and light style to tell this story, and all this sprinkled with some pretty bloody and / or violent scenes that although they are few are quite satisfactory for the context of the story.
Iris and her partner Josh meet friends at a remote mansion near a lake owned by a wealthy Russian oligarch with a bad reputation named Sergei for a few days.
But soon an incident unleashes a series of situations where secrets and hidden intentions come to light...

With an agile and unpredictable pace we will see how our invaluable protagonist Iris will face a lot of challenges from which she will have to get out in the most bizarre ways.
As for the performances we have a young star that lately is in all the trouble. Sophie Thatcher was stepping in with her previous character as a young Mormon girl in Heretic, and as the innocent girl in The Boogeyman.
In Companion she undoubtedly takes a step forward in her career becoming the absolute protagonist, playing a character that is not at all easy to play and keeping her type comfortably.
She is accompanied by Jack Quaid, star of The Boys, which by the way, if you are not watching it, you are overdue. His character is the true catalyst of the story and a subject with many more edges than it may seem at first.
And I would also like to highlight Harvey Guillén, the eternal Guillermo from the series Lo que hacemos en las sombras, who if I run into him someday I'm going to invite him to something because he is a great guy.
I recommend it to all genre lovers who want to have a good time, plus its relaxed pace and perfect length make it perfect to watch in the company of people who are not so fond of these genres.
I usually don't watch Thriller. But as in this community I have seen two posts about the same movie (this one) I got interested.
Good to read that you enjoyed it. I can't promise to watch it but I enjoyed reading your review.
Great movie with an innovative story.
