The story takes place during a cyber attack, the day on which it happens will be known as ‘day zero’. Faced with the situation, it is decided to support a commission of enquiry, which would be chaired by a former US president who enjoys some social support and who achieved great consensus between the two parties of the country (Democrat and Republican).
Beyond discovering who carried out the cyber-attack, the series deals, through credible characters and a script that moves the viewer forward, with infinite themes: the power of a former president whose support seems unanimous, something unthinkable today

The marriage of years with his wife, one with its own rules, like everyone else; the wife herself who, like many at this level, is not a vase; the daughter who longs to escape from her father's long shadow; the president with the world in her hands and terrified of it; and, obviously, a thousand and one intricacies of governments, companies and other institutions that will make each episode a totem of entertainment.
Robert De Niro is a key player here. It is clear that the project bears his stamp and that he wants to send out a message with it. The actor is the biggest anti-Trump belligerent in Hollywood and here he plays a transcript of Joe Biden, so undisguised that he even goes off the deep end. And, again against all odds, he not only doesn't come across as cheap, he impresses.
It's commendable how a political thriller can touch on so much, do it in such a topical way, and not come across as cheap. That it matters to you. That it challenges you. Unless you're a snob, of course, because while the director isn't the most brilliant at structuring the narrative in a somewhat stilted way, that would be the only point of improvement here.
The history of the investigation works and shows how easy it is in a crisis situation to violate fundamental rights in the name of security.
Thomas Jefferson once said that from time to time the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of patriots and tyrants. But he also said that those who are willing to sell their liberty for security do not deserve both the former and the latter.
It ends satisfactorily and gives an interesting message considering the context of polarisation in the United States, justifying certain questionable acts in a situation such as the one experienced in the 6-episode miniseries.

STOPI have this series on my list to watch more than anything else because of Robert De Niro and to see his development in this product with elements of political conflict that could be seen some similarity with what is happening today, now what I have noticed from the reviews I have read is that it does not go deep or does not have much depth, it remains basic so to speak on the border of entertaining, in my case I just saw De Niro and the topic of the series, I thought it would give much more to talk or discuss but that will be up to me when I see it 😎
