RE: Welcome to Samdal-ri || Series Review

in CineTV11 months ago

I've been looking for someone who will say they enjoyed this show to ask them one simple question, WHY? if I wasn't already a Kdrama girlie, this would have been the worst drama to recommend to someone who has never seen Kdrama. this has to be the worst or tethering of the edge of it when it comes to slow burn. like what are we doing here? it started great with the whole leaving Samdalri to pursue bigger things, the betrayal of her assistant even got me going, but the repetition of themes was getting annoying. the denial of feelings, letting her assistant crimes slide. these themes are nice don't get me wrong, that's why we watch Kdrama but sometimes I think producers have it in their head that a drama has to be 16 episodes long. This drama was so long for no reason with no solid banter and not enough drama to carry it to 16 episodes. In essence, this drama could have been done in 10 episodes still maintaining the intensity it started with. I mean this drama had JI Chang Wook in it!!!!, but I still almost did not finish it. that will be the last time I listen to TikTok rec.

Okay okay. I get you. The drama wasn't giving the usual Ji Chang Wook. If you had excepted something with more action and fierceness, it would have definitely crushed your hopes. One thing is that if you've watched Mr. Queen, you wouldn't expect less from Shin Hye-sun. I mean the denial of feelings.

One thing is that when letting her assistant's crime slide, the directors wanted to make the character a completely innocent and nice person at heart who let's go of things easily.

It's fine if you found the series irking or disappointing. Everyone has a right to their opinion don't they? I personally found it full of humour and fun.

thats the thing though, i wasnt even expecting action, not all ji chang wook's movies are action. this was just hometown cha cha but without a great script.
