Rustom (2016)..... review

in CineTV2 days ago

Love is good when in a beautiful relationship but what happens when that beautiful relationship turns to something bloody….even a murder.

I am a big fan of Bollywood movies. Their rich cultural display and their exuberance towards life radiates from the screen to the audience that you can't help but get in the flow.

The movie I'm going to be sharing with you all is a favourite of mine. The movie is titled Rustom and it is an action thriller cum comedy movie, centered around the life of a decorated naval officer named Rustom Pavri, played by Akshay Kumar.

Synopsis

Commander Rustom is an upright officer, who was serving his country diligently and with integrity. He has a best friend named Vikram, a wealthy second generation heir who wanted to carry out an illegal deal that would dupe the government of millions of rupees.

The illegal deal involved buying an old and abandoned aircraft carrier to India but when Commander Rustom went to inspect the vessel, he found out that it was a rotten vessel and would be a loss to India. He tried to persuade Vikram from the deal but Vikram tried to bribe him with one million rupees. In a fit of rage, he punched Vikram, walking out on him.

He further went to his superiors to tell them about the danger of the vessel but they too had been bribed by Vikram and so they paid him no heed. In order to keep his mouth shut, they transferred him to London for six months. Commander Rustom had to leave his beloved wife, Cynthia Pavri all alone and this opened her up for seduction from Vikram, leading to an affair but she never knew that she was simply a pawn to get revenge on Rustom.

In a bid to end the affair between herself and Vikram, she was physically abused and blackmailed. Rustom still found out about her affair and he was livid. In a fit of rage, Vikram was murdered with only three bullets and Rustom surrendered himself to the police as a crime suspect.

The amazing thing about this movie is how the plot twists several times and how the humour flowed effortlessly. I love Indian jokes cos they make much sense, hehe.

From the way Vikram pleaded "not guilty" in court and from the way he defended his every move, I was totally convinced that he was innocent but later on it was revealed that he was the murderer.

But Rustom garnered public sympathy by proving without a doubt that Vikram had to die because he touched his woman. That was akin to a capital crime in the Naval force. I think any man would go rage staking mad if he found out that his beloved wife was having an affair with his best friend.

There is nothing to dislike in this movie. The plot, actors, suspense and conversation all went pretty well for me. Akshay Kumar's acting was flawless. I almost believed he was a naval officer in real life. He brought the role to life and he made the movie so much enjoyable to watch.

What did I learn?

I learnt that a man would do anything to protect his name and his beloved but a good soldier would do anything to protect his country. I also learnt the bitter regret about cheating and extra marital affairs. It hurts deeply to both the doer and the bystander.

I rate this movie 8/10 stars because Akshay Kumar was a good soldier and husband.

Thanks for reading and viewing.

The plot is compelling and i agree with you that Bollywood movies are always spot-on.

I love Akshay Kumar's actions in movies. Once he is there and some other Indian actors, I fall in love with such movies. His role in movies are always explicit and amazing. I haven't seen this one yet. Is it on Netflix? Bollywood movies are always entertaining
