"RANGO" Movie Review

in CineTV9 hours ago

For a long time now, I've been looking for a platform where I can actually get suggestions for interesting movies. Due to the lack of such platforms, I went ahead to follow some individuals on Tik Tok but most of their movie suggestions still don't serve me fully. I depended on my friends sometimes for movie suggestions during the weekends not knowing that Cine TV community on hive is actually a place you don't only get movie suggestions to watch, but one can also read reviews and post reviews of watched movies as well. I'm happy I've finally found a place.

I've actually gone through the community and I have seen like minded people, my fellow movie lovers and I feel like sharing a review of one of the best movies I've watched.

It's “RANGO”.
The movie “Rango” was directed by Gore Verbinski and voiced by Johnny Depp. It's a 2011 animation movie that tells the story of Rango, a pet chameleon with a penchant for acting drama with its toys before it got stranded in the Mojave Desert.

His journey in the Mojave Desert begins following his ejection from the owner's car after a crash. This incident forced Rango, a lovable and eccentric protagonist, to navigate through the harsh desert landscape facing attacks from the eagle.

During his journey, he stumbled upon a small town called Dirt,
Rango is thrust into a world full of dusty saloons, corrupt politicians, and also suffered the grittiness of the environment as well as desperate water shortages.

I would give a 97% rating to the movie visuals. The animation is breathtakingly detailed, with an outstanding blend of realistic textures and stylized character designs which can entice any movie lover. The film's use of lighting and shadows is equally impressive as it captured the beauty of the harsh desert landscape. The film makers’ creativity were greatly put to work. From the eerie glow of the moon to the blinding brightness of the sun, every frame is a proof of the film makers' keen attention to detail.

The voice cast is cool as well, with a talented ensemble that brings the Town of Dirt to life. Here are the major characters who voiced the film and their roles:

Rango(voiced by Johnny Depp): The protagonist, a pet chameleon with a passion for acting and was named after the movie title. Rango is a “fish-out-water” character, a lost “soul”,who navigates the harsh desert environment and the quirky inhabitants of Dirt.

Beans(voiced by Isla Fisher): a tough and independent-minded desert iguana, who becomes Rango's love interest and ally after he got the title of a Sheriff. Though Rango less believed he could change the condition of the people of Dirt, Beans believed in him more.

Roadkill(Voiced by Alfred Molina): this character is a wise, old armadillo who serves as a spiritual guide to Rango. Roadkill didn't only give Rango directions to Dirt, but it also gave him advice on how to survive in such a city of corrupt politicians.

Tortoise John(voiced by late Bed Beatty) Here comes the main antagonist, the Mayor of the town of Dirt. Tortoise John is a very corrupt, greedy, ruthless, manipulative and hypocritical, wheelchair-bound sociopath who maintains his position by depriving the people of Dirt water supply.

Rattlesnake Jake(voiced by Bill Nighly): A ruthless, gunslinging rattlesnake who terrorizes the town of Dirt and tries to overtake Rango.

The 2011 movie, Rango ends on a joyful note for the people of the town of Dirt as Rango, the appointed chameleon sheriff, helps the town overcome its water shortages crisis. The desert is now town with flowing rivers.

But for this joyful ending to come to pass, the Rattlesnake Jake had to be defeated and humiliated but not eliminated, meaning that if such a movie has a continuation, the character has a chance of reappearing.
However, the true villain, Tortoise John downfall brings relief and celebration for the people of Dirt. From then, the people's faith in the leadership of Dirt was restored.
Rango as a reward earns their respect, admiration and trust, deciding to stay back in Dirt as their Sheriff.

         **MY VERDICT**

If I'm to rate the Rango film, I would give it 4.5/5 stars. It's a movie that's entertaining and will be appealling audiences of all ages. The movie is imaginative and such a modern animated classic that deserves to be celebrated.

Thanks friends for stopping by.
