Hello and welcome to the 9TH edition of Cine TV Community Spotlight. In a bid to boost engagement and interaction in the community, as well as showcase the work of deserving authors, the Cine TV Spotlight Series has begun.

And it’s all simple. At the end of every week, we spotlight works by authors based on the content, originality, style and word count. It is not a contest but just our way of creating exposure for the works that we enjoyed throughout the week and to also boost exceptionally written content by our authors. Simply put, give it your best and have fun while at it, and then we showcase your work here.

So, in no particular order, here are the authors spotlighted for this week:

Title: When I Fly To You

When I Fly.jpg

While the romance in this drama was so swoon worthy, it had me hooked for a different reason. Their friendship. The spirit of love they had towards each other. Granted, romance blossomed between four out of the five; Su Zaizai and Zhang Lurang, Jiang Jia and Gu Ran. Yet, I found myself falling for how much they genuinely cared about each other. This was proven by the actions of each member of the group when Guang Fang needed support. There was also the part where they were all separated to chase their dreams. That’s what happens with life.

Title: The Girl Next Door

Even though the comedic elements are sometimes overdosed, I can say that I found the scenes where the romantic and dramatic aspects of the movie were more valuable. I also think that the scenes where a group of eccentric characters come together to do something they want to do, but push the limits, devalue the movie. Those who have seen or will see the movie will understand what I want to say better. I can't say that the narratives that some people describe it as an adult movie reflect the truth.

Soon enough we realize that Victoria is basically the new vessel for the pale girl that we saw in the second film. After that, we get back to the present where the siblings have survived, Sienna is in and out of a mental hospital and her brother is attending college. Soon they realize that Art is back and is coming for them and they need to find a way to kill him and the pale girl for good. At the same time, Art has his usual fun with everyone in his way especially as it's Christmas!

Title: Officer Black Belt

Although the story has intense and sometimes dark moments, such as the confrontation with a pedophile who defies the terms of his probation, the script manages to maintain a perfect balance between action, emotion and moral message. Impeccable choreography and raw realism and the actors really do their job brilliantly...I really liked it. So the fight sequences are directed with utmost care. Lee Jung Do is not presented as an invincible hero, but as a skilled fighter facing real difficulties.

In my opinion, the movie was a perfect execution of horror. The way they managed to handle the audio in the movie was indeed fantastic. It was super quiet when it needed to be, and in those scenes where it was super quiet would leave someone with an uneasy feeling. I literally was shivering a little bit in some of those scenes, having not the slightest idea what was going to happen next. The audio quality of the movie didn't even help matters instead it intensified that feeling. I mean it's like you want to hear something but it's super quiet. And when that jump scare comes up it lands perfectly, most of the time.

Title: Ancient Apocalypse: The Americas Could Be The Origin of Humanity

Americas Civilization.jpg

As you can see in the subtitle associated with the series, this focuses on the Americas and it is so because our continent in what I could capture from the documentary has a past that does not want to recognize despite the evidence, one that is an unknown, this as an American is a pride because it places us shoulder to shoulder with other places on the planet with a great ancestral history. This for the viewer will be metaphorically speaking as the impact of a meteorite against the earth, it opens the debate of ideas which I join because I want to know the history of the land where I live, that continent that gave birth to glorious cultures…

Title: Aki and PawPaw

Aki and Pawpaw.jpg

They got home to meet their father who supports their nonchalant attitude all the time and while explaining, they wanted to show their father how their teacher spanked them and they spanked him too. Why would a child beat his father? I was wondering. Their father reaped what he sowed on that day because he has refused to train his kids well. One day, Aki and PawPaw were wandering on the streets of their village as usual and they saw a bike. They pushed the bike and sold it to some corrupt policemen. Eventually the owner of the bike was able to locate those policemen and proved to them that he owns the bike.
