MaXXXine is a sharp look at the corrupt nature of media culture, a critique of the American dream of the 80s, a visual spectacle of the neon-lit streets of Los Angeles, glitzy parties and the nostalgic atmosphere of the era, and a very rich story.
Maxine, who has a traumatic past but has survived everything that has happened to her, now wants to start a new life and join the ranks of Hollywood stars. It would be quite appropriate to call the character's struggle for life and to say that I was watching a movie within a movie.
Mia Goth, who gives life to the character of Maxine, makes the character she portrays shine and puts forth a performance full of success where ambition and fear come together. While Maxine reflects her vulnerability and fragility, she gives the impression that she has the power to turn every environment in her favor.
Some people can be judged negatively or positively on the basis of their appearance, but most of this is nothing more than prejudice or guesswork with a fifty percent probability of being correct. The character of Maxine is a strong-willed person who embodies all the qualities she visually reflects.
It was a pleasure to watch the character throughout the movie, where her struggle to survive and recover from traumatic events becomes the main theme. The atmosphere of the period in which the movie takes place is successfully reflected, while the elements of horror and suspense are skillfully blended into the story.
Focusing on the depth of the character, I can say that the story of the movie is far from unnecessary clichés and has a character-driven progression. As the story progresses, the change in the character and his desire to fulfill his dreams are shown in a simplicity that is easily recognizable.
The director's love for cinematic aesthetics, which we are used to seeing in his previous films, can also be seen in this movie. Apart from the previous films, we see that the dark world of the stories is somewhat illuminated and a satisfying finale is presented.
In general, I liked the movie and the director's touches, but I liked the reflections of Mia Goth's character Maxine in the character-driven story.
I also think that Ti West has created an audience for himself with the last movie of the trilogy. Fans have probably seen the movie, but I recommend everyone to watch MaXXXine, especially with its successful reflection of the new generation horror genre and strong performances.
Thank you for being here and reading. I hope everything is going well in your life and that the coming days will include the happiest time in your life. Take care and goodbye!
