Welp, it's finished. The epic 'Joy Ride' trilogy is complete. This third one released in 2014 is the last one they've made to this day.
'Roadkill' was a very fun watch but the second was probably slightly better to me. Of course the original is, by a pretty large margin, the best one.
'Roadkill' is still very watchable and appealing in it's own way. I will say the opening couple scenes are pretty nuts! Pure madness. Overall 'Roadkill' does prove to be the edgiest, most violent and visceral movie of the trilogy. Some seriously gnarly scenes! Definitely makes you cringe and your skin crawl. Rusty Nail is as wicked as I've seen him.
You see a lot more of Rusty Nail in this third movie and I don't think I liked that quite as much. Weakens the mystery a bit for me. Although it was entertaining at times. Rusty is a savage fighter apparently and some of the action featuring him was crazy.
'Roadkill' was the least suspenseful but most in your face movie of the three that's for sure. This is nice for a casual watch, definitely will not bore you! It still did feel like it had the spirit of 'Joy Ride' for the most part.
Overall, Joy Ride is an enjoyable horror trilogy that could probably be watched in a single night if one wanted to. Beautifully simple, and checks so many boxes for what's expected in a horror/suspense movie.
I wonder when or if they'll make another 'Joy Ride'? I think there's still some crazy scenarios and creative ways to attack the series.
It means a lot to finish up this series. The original will always be a source of fantastic nostalgia for me, and finishing all three feels oddly peaceful.
I'll give 'Roadkill an 7.9/10!
