I maybe saw the trailer for 'Life' back when it was coming out in 2017 but I'm not sure. I once again did not watch the trailer for this one and I definitely think it was the smart move.
I thought this movie was going to have like an 'Interstellar' or 'The Martian' vibe but yeah, no I was way off. 'Life' is scary and vicious, and I bet it would have been really intense to watch in theaters let alone just my house.
After watching a lot of movies with crazy wicked and deep storylines and everything recently, 'Life' was actually refreshingly simple but very entertaining.
Heading to space always gives you a sort of fun sense of wonder and, the crew runs into an alien in unique way. The life form they find starts off microscopic but quickly turns massive by way of consumption. Literally absorbing and killing life forms with sickening ease and brutality. The creature was odd, menacing and intelligent. The movie definitely had faint 'Alien' vibes, the 1979 classic with Sigourney Weaver.
In a way the screw seems to invite these problems onto themselves as they tried to shock this life form awake and well, I believe that just made the thing that is named 'Calvin', quite angry. Just goes to show that maybe be careful with life, treat things with care. If there are aliens out there, maybe don't assume it's all cute and harmless. I know, it's just a movie but still it's an interesting point/idea.
A lot of 'Life' was fairly predictable and straight forward. Calvin's kills were surprisingly brutal and the ending had a fun twist. The graphics/CGI were strong and the acting was pretty good.
Just a simple, but fun alien movie. Tough, blunt and exciting. Minimal complaints. Not life changing but enjoyable.
I'll give 'Life' an 8/10.

I watched 'Life' a few months back after a lot of nagging from my end. It was a great watch, but a little boring at few parts.
Yeah I agree, but despite that I think it's still a good one to watch with a few snacks at the ready LOL.
