!LOLZ oh man, you could do a whole funny police one with like police academy and bobcat goldwaithe (sp?) and eddie murphy/nick nolte from beverly hills cop and Arnold in Kindergarten cop and and, you get the idea 😁 !PIMP
Too bad no one understood Police Squad at the time, so it was canceled after only like 8 episodes. While I'm glad we got the great movies out of that, think of all the great TV episodes we missed out on. Oh well.
Dragnet was actually a radio show back in the 40s staring a very young Jack Webb. He revived it in the late 60s for the TV show we all remember. I think the TV show was fairly popular at the time, lasting a few years. The parody movie with Tom Hanks was great! Well... I remember it being great. I haven't watched it since I was a kid. Anyway, some of the tropes Police Squad made fun of were from Dragnet.
I could be wrong, but I think Get Smart might have made fun of Dragnet more directly than Police Squad. They were on the air at or around the same time, so the mocking would have been more easily understood by the audience at the time.
The humor back then was different from now. I always like the man with white hair (last movie) He had many films that I've watched before and I find him vey funny.
That was hilarious! I still liked Hugh Laurie better as a comedian, he was just sooo funny! Seinfeld one is great as was The Simpsons. It's such a shame Leslie Nielsen is gone, he was so funny... Great post!

Didn't Dragnet come from that too and it did a little better didn't it?

Ah okay, I was thinking they were all tied together, but I couldn't remember if that was accurate or not.

I remember the Get Smart reruns. That was more a homage to James Bond kind of like Austin Powers.
lolz Now that junk mails was really fascinating. feels good to laugh or smile once in a while 😂😂
Totally!
Miss the old jokes. Used to watch the 3 stogies and the like. Nice to bring the classic laughter back. !BBH
Three Stooges is classic!

Yep, he was always good in everything he did.

I agree. Hugh does ok in his more dramatic roles, but he was made to be a comic.
