Hello friends. I want to share my impressions about Fast & Furious 10 with you.I must mention that the new director Louis Leterrier did a commendable job in taking over the film. However Justin Lin's influence is still palpable and it's possible to say that the exaggerated dose continues to greet us from every corner of the movie.
When this team first appeared in 2001 they left behind a wide range of defense systems and incredible escape methods ranging from street racers playing musicand dancing to covert services thieves and terrorists. They centered the theme around family and they continue to demonstrate this loyalty in the latest film.
Inspired by the saying "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" this series unites previous rivals to join forces against a common evil seeking to stop a psychopath who threatens them. Dom despite hs efforts to be everywhere painfully experiences his inadequacy. The film initially emphasizes family by setting up a family gathering and then presents an exhausting action that relentlessly travels from one country to another. You'll want to interrupt the actors and say "Shall we have a coffee?"
Of course after the absurd scenes in the previous films Dom defies even the laws of physics. We can say that in this film we embark on a different Roman holiday. A massive global bomb demolishes the city streets drags on for miles and explodes in a way that would annihilate half the city but our team fails to prevent this catastrophe with empty action scenes. It's worth noting that the selection ofancient cultures and historical cities in this type of action film is meant to maintain a connection with the audience. Indeed our hearts ache for each piece of historical artifact.
By the way even though the film doesn't introduce anything particularly new at its core the theme of recycling is cleverly utilized. Old characters resurface with memories from previous films taking the audience on an introspective journey. It evokes a sense of remembering which character was in which chapter who they are and what they did. The film swiftly sweeps us into that moment with its action-packed scenes. In fact while it seems like everything is happening in the film at the same time it's also possible to say that nothing is happening at all. Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron make a comeback as their respective criminal roles Queenie and Cipher but they don't contribute much to the plot. Brie Larson onthe other hand assists Letty in Antarctica with her character Tess. Jason Statham emerges as Deckard Shaw and last but not least Dwayne Johnson makes his entrance.
I mentioned how the film contributes to the future of the world by effectively utilizing recycling materials. Jason Momoa stands out as the villain Dante. His performance is oscillating between Joker and Steven Seagal. It has become somewhat of a habit in Hollywood for lead actors to show interest in the role of Joker.
Dante appears as a diabolical genius and an antagonist with his sole target being Dom. Dom becomes the focus of Dante's wrath as Dante believes that Dom killed the son of drug lord Hernan Reyes in Fast & Furious 5. Dante manifests with his psychopathic behavior popping up everywhere and making people exclaim "This is just too much." He's written as a character that defines madness in this series as he acts recklessly and is positioned as the complete opposite of Dom. While Dom represents rugged masculinity Dante is portrayed as someone who wears crazy outfits has a softer side and possesses a slightly goofy sense of humor. He drives around in a purple car representing the long-lost fun in the Fast world while simultaneously being a menacing individual. Dante emerges as a genius who challenges Dom Toretto's fiercely protective anger towards his family.
Many storylines are left incomplete as if there's a pause point presumably to be continued in future installments. For instance the uncle nephew journey was quite enjoyable with elements like the airplane jump and the uncle's efforts to deliver his nephew to their father being truly entertaining. However it seems like Jacob leaves the scene prematurely. The film doesn't have a point of sadness; instead we find ourselves under intense bombardment eagerly awaiting the next move. The scene where Dom runs with his son towards the dam engulfed in flames is a striking moment to close the film. There are numerous materials left for the next film including losses reunions and those left on the road. We can't label the film as average because there's a strong team involved and the presence of a madman like Dante adds many layers to it. Furthermore it appears that Leterrier unravels the mystery in his first film joining this universe. The film includes exaggerated and absurd scenes comical moments that repeat Dom's family theme and several points that sarcastically address the evolution of the team. No matter how much we may turn up our noses we can't deny that Fast & Furious still has a side that embraces the audience no matter how much we criticize it.
