CineTV Contest: Pompeii (A true historical event)

in CineTV3 days ago (edited)

Hello movie lovers, after seeing the cineTv prompt for the week, the first movie my mind went to was "Pompeii," and I don't know why. I have watched lots of historical movies, but my mind just went straight to Pompeii, and I think the reason is that while watching this movie in 2014 with my siblings, my dad told us it was based on a real-life event and it stuck while the other movies I have watched which are based on real-life event are mostly known at the beginning of the movie or the end so I did not keep track of most of them like Titanic.

Pompeii movie (2014) is inspired by real-life events, specifically the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, which destroyed the ancient Roman city of Pompeii. However, while the volcanic disaster is historically accurate, the characters and love story in the movie are fictional.

The movie takes creative liberties with the events leading up to the eruption, but it accurately portrays the devastating consequences of the disaster. The film points a lot of attention to the architecture, culture, and daily life of ancient people in Pompeii, making it a fascinating watch for history buffs. The movie talks about the stubborn nature of humans, which is still in existence to date. People still build their houses in places that can cause tragedy to them all in the name of luxury living.

The Storyline

The film tells the story of Milo (Kit Harington), a young Celtic gladiator who is forced to fight in the Roman arena. Milo falls in love with Cassia (Emily Browning), the daughter of a wealthy merchant, but their romance is forbidden. Poor and rich don't go hand in hand back in the day.

Meanwhile, Senator Corvus (Kiefer Sutherland) arrives in Pompeii, seeking to exploit the city's wealth and power. As tensions rise, Mount Vesuvius begins to erupt, threatening to destroy the city.

As the volcano flow approaches, Milo has to fight a lot of soldiers to save Cassia and escape the city, while Corvus is still trying to steal the city's wealth for himself. The movie shows how human greed can cause huge disasters and how love can come to save ones life even at the dying moment.

The MC

The film is an old film which I remember recent, but while doing my research I discovered I have always loved a particular actor even before he become so popular and its no other person than Kit Harington who acted Jon Snow in Game of Thrones.

The characters are well-developed and complex, with Milo being a particularly compelling protagonist. His backstory as a slave and gladiator adds depth to his character, and his romance with Cassia is sweet and tender. The supporting cast, including Mad Men and Cloverfield, added to the amazing performances that gave the film's tension and drama.

Conclusion

"Pompeii" is a thrilling and emotionally movie that revolves around disaster that brings to life one of history's most infamous events. Many people don't know what led to the doom of the people of pompeii but this movie and its talented cast shows what happened but we were not there to witness. The movie is is packed with impressive visual effects, attention to historical detail, action, drama, and many more. If I will be rating this movie based on the time it was released, I would give it a 8.5/10 and I would gladly recommend this movie to anyone who love historical movies. If you haven't watched it, then you should watch it. It's based on true even and you would it.
