Hello guys, I was really excited about this contest because the first movie that came to mind when I saw it was In Time. In Time was one of my favorites movies when I was younger.
When it comes to movie, I don't like repeating them, cause I'm like what's the need of watching it again when I already know the storyline but In Time was the exception because I watched it at least twice and I enjoyed every single bit of it, the action, the drama and the romance.
The phraseTime is money is literally what In Time is all about.
About the movie
In Time, directed by Andrew Niccol, is a sci-fi thriller that starts in the year 2169 where aging stops at 25, and time has replaced money. The concept of this movie is brilliant and exciting, everyone has a glowing countdown clock that is part of their arm, and when it hits zero, you die. Want a coffee? That’s 4 minutes. A bus ride? 2 hours. Life is literally a ticking clock where the rich have centuries while the poor try to survive only one minutes
Will Salas, a factory worker in the ghetto of Dayton who is fortunate to receive over a century of time from a suicidal rich man. With this gift, he crosses into the elite world of New Greenwich, a sleek utopia where the rich live foreverand have not sympathy for the poor. There, he meets Sylvia Weis, the rebellious daughter of a time businessman. After a series of thrilling escapes, shootouts, and robberies, they go on to robbing time banks and giving years to the poor.
The movie is generally about time as currency, the benefits of being the higher class and the disadvantages of being in the lower class, and the level of immorality amongst the rich. Watching someone sprint to a time station with seconds left on their arm was a lot because you would have your heart in your hand not knowing if the person would survive or not. There were scenes where people were struggling just to make it till tomorrow, these showed how the world is generally. Survival of the fittest I would say.
What i loved most was the fact that everyone had time in theirs hands and the lemght will was willing to go to help the poor.
But the relationship between Will and Sylvia was short-lived so the romance part wasn't really there..
Still, In Time was a very wonderful movie that I enjoyed watching. So I'll rate it a 4.5 and I recommend this to anyone who hasn't watched it and to those that love thriller movies. I'd like to know your if you enjoyed thw movie too.
