Movies have a way of touching our hearts in ways we least expect. Some movies make us laugh, cry, dream, and sometimes, some even inspire us to take charge of our lives. And personally for me, a movie stands out which did all of that for me, I am the type who watches movie with the mindset of "it is a movie, it was acted" so all those shootings, emotional, horror and whatever scenes don't get at me, but this particular movie feels real, its like someone telling you what you need to know/hear just when you really need it..timely, the move is titled "The Forge".
This story centers around a guy named Isaiah Wright, a 19year old trying to figure out what to do with his life, Isaiah spends his time playing basketball and videogames, he is not doing all those cause he likes it all, but just cause he his at a cross road and doesn't know what else to do with his life, this hit me hard, and I saw myself in him times when I have been confused, frustrated and all, and also we have all been in such situation before, moment where we have been unsure of the next move/step to take.
The movie really inspires me, I leant a lot from it. My first lesson in this movie was when Joshua Moore came into the scene, he saw something in Isaiah that Isaiah doesn’t see in himself. He guided him (Isaiah), challenged him to step out of his comfort zone, all those he did patiently as a mentor would. Sometimes all we need is for just someone to believe in us when we even don't, someone who won't point out our flaws and degrade us, and yes, that’s the first lessons I took in the movie.
Watching the movie further, there were a lot of times Isaiah struggle, fail, and all, but eventually he(Isaiah) rose, that gave me hope that no matter how blurr life seems, there’s a way forward, just that I need to be courageous enough to take a step.
One scene stood out, and it was a tough one for me, that was when Isaiah finally admitted to himself that he was scared, as a guy we are often scared of letting out our fears, though we all have it, he confessed he was scared of failing, scared of disappointing people, scared of not being good enough, it was so real and relatable. Being jonest, there are a lot of times that fear and anxiety has held me back, but this movie didn't just leave you there, it shows you we all face those moments, and it shows you its ok to fear, but that even in the presence of fear, be courageous and that despite whatever, take a decision to move forward. The movie still inspires me till now, never to let my fears hold me back, when faced with a situation, I just summon courage and it does help.
I loved that the movie weaves faith into the story. Just like the Bible verse that talks about faith without work....this movie shows that even when it does not look like it, even when we can’t see it, that faith, paired with action, can take us places we never thought possible.
The movie also also shows the importance of relationship and connection, it shows that we can do little or nothing in being isolated, there are times we need to lean on others and allow them help us when we can't help ourselves, instead of going into our shell. Isaiah didn't do it in his own also, Joshua was there for him, his mum supported him, the prayers too, including some encouragement from people around. I learnt that atimes when trying to figure things out, you definitely need certain people.
At the end of the movie, I wasn’t just inspired, I learnt a lot, I was motivated. Even before the end of the movie, I have been thinking about my own life, the areas where I have hesitated in takimg action, the fears I have allowrd control me.
Isaiah did found his way, I can find mine too.
The Forge is a story about all of us, our struggles, our fears, our potential. It shows that life is indeed a journey, and it’s okay to be confused, fear, stumble, and fail along the way. But what really matter is that we should keep moving, learn and keep believing. Watching it is like a wakeup call, "Milliracle rise, take charge, you can do it too, don't lose hope, pray, take a step, have faith........." And all were the voices now ringing in my head, and its best to take action now. If you’re looking for a movie that will inspire you, help you reflect, take action, maybe even cry a little, then don't hesitate, go for it.." The Forge"
