Cinetv Contest: A Shot Of Reality In "Work Later Drink Now"

in CineTV9 days ago

This is one of the many films that got just the right name for it, a Korean series that focuses on beer, more beer and real friendship. Drinking scenes has become a part of almost all Korean series in different atmosphere especially, the romantic ones. But I never thought I would enjoy one that has drinks or beer in almost all it's scenes.

Honestly, I was skeptical about this series when I first came across it on a long list of Korean series but I forced myself into seeing it to enter for this contest. Yeah, you could say I never would have seen this one if I didn't have this cool reason to but right now, I'm like "Why was this series underrated?" I guess it's the name maybe.

"Work Later Drink Now" is a 24 episode Korean series that got aired within yesr 2021-2023. It's a two season series but each episode was less than 45 minutes. The series is starred by Jung Eun-Ji as Kang Ji-goo, Lee Sun-bin as Ahn So Hee and Han Sun-Hwa as Han Ji Yeon, the three friends with Choi Siwon as Kang Book Goo.

This series takes us on a whole new level of drinking education. I don't drink and I'm not a fan of people who do but this series somehow succeeded in making me rethink that stance. I think it's fun to watch people drink or is it just what the series wanted me to think because they really made it look so good especially with their different acts.

Three girls who had the most dramatic first time tasting alcohol became friends in the most unexpected ways and stick together as more than just drink buddies in the most exciting way, these three have to live their realities by not worrying about reality. With them most of the time is a guy who goes off from just one shot, not their match.

Right from the first scene of this series showing the girls on a date with same guy, it was from one shot to another with no breaks and fear of getting drunk. They seem to have been drinking all their lives that they are no match for even a guy who boasted so much about his high liquor tolerance. He got served so effortlessly.

There are different storylines in this one series but trust me, they all had the three friends and their love for drinking especially with delicacies. I still can't get over the beauty of the tables they sit at when they want to eat and drink. Aside Soju, they drank one beer called "Terra", it reminded me of a seasoning brand here in Nigeria lol.

The first season took us on how they tried to stop drinking as one got a pimple on her face, the other had abdominal pain and the last keeps forgetting even the most easiest things to recall. Too scared to lose what they hold precious, they tried to give up drinking after doctor's prescription but somehow, they drank more and got healed.

The second season, I won't say is much better than the first season but definitely worth seeing after the first. It's about the girls going off the grid to live in the mountains for more than a year, away from alcohol and they lived fine but got back to their lives, resume drinking like that never happened but not without learnt lessons.

I love how different their personalities are, giving the drink scenes very lively touches. There are just enough romantic scenes too as they fall in love slowly with the characters we were made to expect they would fall for. The comedy is just as expected, I couldn't even hold my laughter when I saw a few episodes late at night.

I'll recommend this series full of drinking scenes to anyone who enjoys drinking really, they made sure to make it look appealing even to non drinkers like me. The lessons of what reality is, that even drinking could not take away, this series did a good job on the reminder. Over all, it was a good watch for me and I'll give it a rating 8/10.

Nope, I'm not a drinker. Don't think I'd ever be, but I trust K-dramas to turn this into something fun to watch. You've really reached down to the core of K-drama this year, Merit. Keep on the good work, and I appreciate your interaction in the community.🌺

Haha yeah, they didn't succeed in making me a drinker 😅
This one you're saying I should keep on the good work, I shouldn't take break to see Nollywood huh? 😂
