This was the conclusion I drew yesterday watching the movie "Skater Girl", a drama that touches all these issues but in a superficial way, nevertheless it is very pleasant to watch.
A teenage girl, (Prerna), belonging to a lower caste in a village in India, (Khempur), sees how Skateboarding can help her cope with the helpless condition she finds herself in.
She wants to study, but the condition of family poverty forces her to work from time to time. Her great support is her little brother, (Ankush), who builds a rudimentary skateboard, which lacks wheels and is used by both of them to have fun in the village.
A foreigner (Jessica) arrives from London looking for her roots, but destiny makes her meet Prerna and Ankush, who teach her how to play with the skateboard.
Jessica, manages to make friends with the children of the village and together with an American friend who teaches in a nearby town, they teach the children the art of Skateboarding, they buy skateboards for everyone and there begins a small revolution where the children are forbidden to skate since this keeps them away from school.
Jessica has to intervene by telling the kids that no school means no skateboarding.
In the meantime, Prerna is mistreated by her father, who does not understand why she likes so much a male activity (Skateboarding), does not understand that the young girl feels free and unattached and burns her skateboard. Prerna finds herself in a situation where she is not allowed to have a boyfriend, she cannot deal with people of a higher social caste, and her future husband must be chosen by her father.
Jessica, on the other hand, thinks that the children of the village should be given a chance to get out of oppression. She leaves her job in London and decides to build a skateboarding track, seeking the help of politicians and even a member of the royal family. The latter is the one who supports her.
With the help of some friends, who are also skateboarders, the track is built. Prerna, always accompanied by Ankush, tries to ride the asphalt waves from the top of the skateboarding track without getting hurt.
But her practical, retrograde father tells Jessica to stay away from his children. Her father announces to Prerna that he is getting married. Prerna's introduction to the family she is to be related to occurs, they are not even acquaintances and the girl is treated like a commodity. A wedding is hastily organized, and it turns out that it is scheduled on the same day of a national skateboarding competition in which the protagonist wants to participate. On the day of the wedding, Prerna escapes with the help of her brother to the competition.
When she gets there, she competes and her parents see her as they arrive at the track looking for her. Prerna receives a special recognition award from the member of the royal family who originally supported the construction of the track.
Her father finally seems to understand the joy that skateboarding brings to his daughter.
The director's name is Manjari Makijany, who co-wrote the film with her sister Vinati Makijany. The film explores very subtly and superficially the traditions of Indian society related to youth and children, especially women.
The key to the film is the acting work of its leading lady, Rachel Saanchita Gupta, who conveys tension and sweetness through her character of Prerna. Also outstanding is the acting work of child Shafin Patel as her alert younger brother Ankush.

Ella quiere estudiar, pero la condición de pobreza familiar la obliga a trabajar de vez en cuando. Su gran apoyo es su pequeño hermano, (Ankush), el cual construye una rudimentaria patineta, a la cual le faltan ruedas y es usada por ambos para divertirse en el pueblo.
Llega una extranjera (Jessica), desde Londres buscando sus raíces, pero el destino la hace encontrar con Prerna y Ankush, quienes le enseñan su manera de jugar con la patineta.
Jessica, logra hacerse amiga de los niños del pueblo y en conjunto a un amigo americano que da clases en un poblado cercano le enseñan a los niños el arte del Skateboarding, le compran patinetas a todos y allí comienza una pequeña revolución en donde le prohíben a los niños patinar ya que esto los aleja de la escuela. Ante esto, Jessica debe intervenir diciéndole a los niños que sin escuela no hay patinaje.
En el interin, Prerna es maltratada por su padre, el cual no entiende el por qué a ella le gusta tanto una actividad de varones, (el Skateboarding), no entiende que la joven se siente libre y sin ataduras y quema su patineta. Prerna se encuentra en una situación donde no le permiten tener un novio, no puede tratar a personas de una casta social más alta, además su futuro esposo debe ser escogido por su padre.
Por otro lado, Jessica, piensa que a los niños del pueblo se les debe dar una oportunidad para salir de la opresión. Deja su trabajo en Londres y decide construir una pista de Skateboarding, buscando para ello la ayuda de políticos, y hasta de un miembro de la familia real. Siendo este el último quien la apoya.
Con ayuda de algunos amigos, que también son Skaters, se construye la pista. Prerna, siempre acompañada de Ankush, intenta montar las olas de asfalto desde lo más alto en la pista de Skateboarding sin hacerse daño. Pero su padre práctico y retrograda le dice a Jessica que no se acerque a sus hijos.
Su padre le anuncia a Prerna que se va a casar. Ocurre la presentación de Prerna a la familia con la cual se le quiere emparentar, ni siquiera son conocidos y a la niña se le trata como una mercancía. Se organiza una boda apresuradamente, y resulta que está se programa el mismo día de una competencia nacional de Skateboarding en la que la protagonista quiere participar. El día de la boda Prerna, se escapa con ayuda de su hermano hasta la competencia.
Al lograr llegar, compite y sus padres la ven ya que que llegan a la pista buscándola. Prerna recibe un premio de reconocimiento especial del miembro de la familia real que originalmente apoya la construcción de la pista.
El nombre de la directora del film es Manjari Makijany, quién guioniza la película junto a su hermana Vinati Makijany. En la película se explora muy sutil y superficialmente las tradiciones de la sociedad india relacionadas con los jóvenes y niños, especialmente las mujeres.

Look, here the script did not convince me much but the main ideas of the film seem to me very clear and stimulating, and in the end, this is what the authors of the film intend to spread.
