Hello friends, today I bring you a movie that I got to see last weekend, those who have read me before know that I love historical films adapted to cinema, this is one of them. It is based on the book written by Ivan Yakovych Franko, who was a Ukrainian historian, playwright, politician, polyglot, activist, scientist, among others. The author of this book, in a historical character of which countless films and plays have been made in Eastern Europe, which I discovered while researching the film, but today we will talk about Zakhar Berkut, the character on which his book and the film are based.

Está basada en el libro escrito por Iván Yákovych Frankó, quien fue un historiador, dramaturgo, político, políglota, activista, científico, entre otros, ucraniano. El autor de este libro, en un personaje histórico del cual se han hecho innumerables cintas y obras de teatro en Europa del Este, cosa que investigando la cinta, descubrí, pero hoy hablaremos de Zakhar Berkut, el personaje en el cual se basa su libro y la película.
Zakhar Berkurt, was a leader who confronted the hordes of Mongols, when they began their expansion of territories in the Carpathian Mountains, what today are territories of Ukraine and Russia, in the years 1241. This film was released in 2020 and was directed by Akhtem Seitablaev and John Wynn. The film is based on folk tales and stories that are told of what happened in those mountains, there are no historical data or documents of the facts, but it is known that the Mongol empire, went out to conquer these territories, encountering great resistance. These facts are what inspired this film.
Zakhar Berkurt, fue un líder que se enfrentó a las hordas de mongoles, cuando estos comenzaron su expansión de territorios en las montañas de los Cárpatos, lo que hoy son territorios de Ucrania y Rusia, en los años 1241. Esta película se estrenó en 2020 y fue dirigida por Akhtem Seitablaev y John Wynn. La cinta está basada en cuentos folclóricos e historias que se cuentan de los que ocurrió en esas montañas, no existen por lo que leí datos históricos o documentos de los hechos, pero se sabe que el imperio mongol, salió a conquistar dichos territorios, encontrándose con una gran resistencia. Estos hechos son los que inspiraron esta cinta.
I liked the film a lot despite not having a big budget and being a simple story, but told beautifully, highlighting both the values of brotherhood, integration as a people, love and honor, something we see in many films, the difference is in the way of telling the story, letting shine the customs of the time, the simple way of life of its people and their beliefs. It had solid performances and deep characters, I loved that. The landscapes and photographs were beautiful, besides telling the story of its people. Like any epic story, we will see fights, with violent scenes, although not as bloody as in other films of this type.
La película me gusto mucho a pesar de no contar con un gran presupuesto y ser una historia sencilla, pero contada de manera hermosa, resaltando tanto los valores de hermandad, integración como pueblo, amor y honor, algo que vemos en muchas cintas, la diferencia está en la forma de contar la historia, dejando brillar las costumbres de la época, la manera de vivir sencilla de su gente y sus creencias. Contó con actuaciones solidadas y personajes profundos, eso me encantó. Los paisajes y fotografías hermosa, además de contar la historia de su pueblo. Como toda historia épica, veremos luchas, con escenas violentas, aunque no tan sangrientas como en otras películas de este tipo.
It is not a long film, so everything happens very fast with certain pauses that give us moments to appreciate the plot that is very well structured, I liked that. Here you will not read spoilers, but my impressions and investigations of the film (its historical character), as well as of its author, who I am looking for his film, although it is not easy to find because they are Eastern European films. For me it is interesting to know these historical characters and that we know little about them in the West. One of my passions apart from cinema, books, are the stories taken to the movies, they awaken my curiosity and make me investigate to know more closely their history, I think that is one of the magics of cinema.
No es una cinta larga, así que todo pasa muy rápido con ciertas pausas que nos dan momentos para apreciar la trama que está muy bien estructurada, eso me gusto. Acá no leerás spoiler, sino mis impresiones e investigaciones tanto de la película (su personaje histórico), como de su autor, el cual ando buscando su película, aunque no es fácil de encontrar por ser cintas europeas del este. Para mí es interesante conocer estos personajes históricos y que poco sabemos de ellos en occidente. Una de mis pasiones aparte del cine, libros, son las historias llevadas al cine, despiertan mi curiosidad y me hacen investigar para conocer más de cerca su historia, creo que eso es una de las magias de cine.
In conclusion, the film is worth watching, it is entertaining and shows us a historical event in Eastern Europe, for many unknown. It is not a mega production with great battles, but good enough to make this a film worth watching, with actors some of them with careers and others not so well known, but with solid performances. It's worth seeing and for me it's a 7/10.
En conclusión, la cinta vale la pena ver, es entretenida y nos muestra un acontecimiento histórico de Europa del Este, para muchos desconocidos. No es una mega producción con grandes batallas, pero suficientemente buenas para hacer de esta una cinta digna de ver, con actores algunos de trayectorias y otros no tan conocidos, pero con actuaciones sólidas. Vale la pena verla y para mí es un 7/10.
