I watched the Jack Reacher movies starring Tom Cruise, and I liked all of them. The character is such a remarkable one and it seems almost any story about him would be so damn cool.
There are many detective movies and detective characters with numerous movies around them like Sherlock Holmes, Luther, Benoit Blanc, etc.
But the spin on the Jack Reacher character felt pleasantly unique: an ex military police detective and his detective adventures involves the military, the police and not just some civilian based thing.
That was cool, or at least I found it so.
So when I found out there were making a series on him with a star that is great to look at (Alan Ritchson) I felt this has about all it takes to be one of my favorite series. I just began watching it from Season 1 and just 1-2 episodes into it I'm disappointed.
I wanted to see some great reason why this cool retired military detective would decide to embark on an investigation, and the reason the movie provided just felt too convenient.
The reason was revenge for the death of his brother. That just feels quite cliche, or is it just me?
But I found out, though, that the story on the movie is from a book written by Lee Child titled "Killing Floor". The book was published in 1997 and that is a long time ago. I don't think revenge for the death of a brother as a reason for coming back from retirements for an investigation sounded so cliche in 1997.
I think if the story was written in this era they would've never settled for an arc like that.
I've been wondering what could have been done in this era to correct it in the movie but I guess they pretty much had no option, Reacher's brother was central to the story and maybe switching the story up too much might not be appreciated by the fans of the book.
Making all these findings have made it a little more permissible but yet my interest in the series has dwindled. It has taken me some weeks to finish two episodes, the major thing keeping me on it is that I want to be done with the Season 1 so I can watch the Season 2.
The Reacher character is still of huge interest to me and if not for this brother thing I would have enjoyed it more, but I feel like a little thing like that wouldn't ruin the other two seasons and I can't wait to watch them but I have to finish Season 1 first.
I guess I have to just fight it till I make it to the subsequent seasons. Hopefully nothing that wasn't cliche back then when the books were written wouldn't be brought in to ruin everything.
You might wonder why I seem quite hopeful about this, so I'll remind you that the ones from the movies Tom Cruise made didn't have any cliches, none that mattered at least 😀.

Thank you!
It's just like when you see a best friend turned lover trope that was acted in 1998. It would make sense because that trope wasn't fully explored then. Seeing a trope like that now would just be several shades of annoying. Anyway, I hope you're able to keep an open mind on the season.😄

Exactly, you get it! 😅
I tried and now I'm done with the first Season. I really enjoyed it, it was good, the story and twists. As soon as I was able to put that brother revenge thing aside, that is 😅
Lately I've been scouting for a movie series to engage in because it's been quite a while, it's mostly collection I've been consuming. But coming across this one and also overheard some people talk about it I think it's what giving a try. Thanks for sharing
