My kids are all grown up, they are not into any kid's animation anymore. When they were toddlers, we used to watch a lot of animated films back then. Good Dinosaur was on the list that I have enjoyed with them too.
But as they grew up, they didn't like this type of film anymore but they watched superheroes, action, and anime series. I don't why, maybe because I have watched so many animated films back then that's why, I built a liking for this type of movie.
And where there's family, I'm all for it.
Good Dinosaur is such a movie that you will enjoy with your children, with the whole family, and if you are like me you will rewatch it alone.
It was released in 2015 and directed by Peter Sohn. It was a hype back then but many forgot about it. The visuals of this film are stunning, no doubt. Also, I love the dubbing ; the kid's voiceover made the film perfect.
It got a 6.7/10IMDb rating, which is much lower than what it deserved, according to me. But it got 76% on Rotten Tomatoes, which would be my personal rating or a little higher, if I say it correctly.
- The plot is very simple in this movie. You can take it as a strength as it's a kid's movie. Or if you like a more dynamic plot, then you would predict everything and may feel bored.
A dinosaur was born with weakness and can't fit into their society. Later, his father got lost and died to save him. The baby dinosaur returned to his family after many many adventures.
This is how simple the plot is, if I make a summary.
I love the emotional theme of this movie. A toddler or grown-up will absolutely love this. The cry of the dinosaur after he lost his father, the fear when he got lost in the forest, when he met another lost human child 'spot', and finally his return. Everything was touchy and with some learning.
The visual is also stunning compared to that time. The character looks cartoonish but the background of the film is more realistic. I love that.

There is a lack of supporting character that I must agree with. Most parts of the movie were about the solo traveling of the dinosaur. My children now say that it's boring to see that for too long. And I somehow agree with it.
Other than that, I loved the entire film. It's been a year since I didn't rewatch it. Can I safely say that I sometimes cry watching this movie? I don't know why but the emotional theme was too good on this one.
If you have a toddler or children of any age, watch this film if you have not. Or if you love animated film, maybe give it a try. There's action, just a simple movie but you may like it.
