THE PLOT

It is a romantic drama movie directed by Augustine Frizzell, based on Jojo Moyes 2008 novel of thesame time. The movie weaves together two love stories, one set in the early 1960s and another unfolding in the present day.
The movie opens in the present day where Eliie Haworth played by ( Shailene Woodley) a young disillusioned journalist discovers a series of passionate love letters while working at newspaper in London. These letters addressed to J are from an anonymous woman and one written between the years 1960-1961.
Intrigued by the depth of the emotion In the letter's Ellie becomes captivated by the story of the woman behind them. The letters are a mysterious and heartfelt communication between Jennifer Stirling played by (Felicity Jones) a wealthy socialite and a man named Anthony O'Hare played by (Callum Turner)who is a journalist.
The letters tell a story of forbidden love between Jennifer and Anthony who meet during a tumultuous period in Jennifer's life. She is unhappily married to her controlling and wealthy husband Laurence Stirling played by (Joe Alwyn) who is indifferent to her emotion needs.
Jennifer and Anthony's passionate and intense love affair unfolds in secret with the two of them exchanging a series of letters that conveys their longing,desires and frustration. Despite their deep feelings for each other, Jennifer is torn between her love for Anthony and her duty to her husband. Their affair becomes a bittersweet impossible love story .
In the present Ellie's investigation into Jennifer and Anthony's love letters leads her to discover that Jennifer's life took a tragic turn with the passionate affair ultimately being cut short by her husband's manipulative actions. Jennifer was forced to sever ties with Anthony and her heart was broken.
Ellie's search for more details about the affairs dress her to the place where Jennifer had once lived and all she begins to piece together are the remnants of the past. As Ellie delves deeper, she realizes that Jennifer's tragic story mirrors her own feeling of dissatisfaction and emotional isolation in her own relationship.
Inspired by Jennifer's bravery in seeking love against all odds, Ellie is emboldened to confront her own unresolved feelings and along the way Ellie incovers the long hidden truth of what happened to Jennifer and Anthony.
The movie concludes with Ellie finding resolution and emotional catharsis while Jennifer letters as well as the love they desire continues to resonate across time bringing past and present in a poignant explanation of love loss and the power of written words.
I must confess that this movie “The last letter from your lover is story of two women one from the past and one from thw present who struggles to find fulfilment and love in words that seems to constrain their desires illustrating the enduring power of love letters as symbols of passion and longing.
