The story of "The Social Network"

The life of Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook, when he was a student at Harvard University. The story begins after his girlfriend broke up with him and in response he thought of creating a website with the aim of evaluating the attractiveness of Harvard students under the name FaceMash. Thus, Mark violated and used the student database on the university's website.

The movie begins in 2003 with the founder of Facebook, "Mark Zuckerberg", as he sits with his girlfriend as they discuss clubs that allow learning programming and tells her that if he decides to join one of these clubs, he will have a chance to meet important personalities and his girlfriend decides to break up with him because he abused her.

Mark returns home and writes a post about his girlfriend and exposes her and talks about her in a bad way. Then Mark hacks a Harvard University website. All the information is about the students, he uploads the information and then makes a website called “FaceMash” so that the students can vote About two girls who say which one is more beautiful, and “Mark” wants to take information from his friend “Edward” about the site FaceMash, which they founded together, then he takes the information and the site is launched, and many students use the site and all the girls feel insulted because of the vote.

His friend Eduardo Saverin helped him use an algorithm to rank people in the same way as chess players. The site attracted the attention of many students. Then the university punished Mark and put him on probation for 6 months on charges of breaching privacy. Although he was ostracized by most of his fellow students, his site, FaceMash, became so popular that it even brought down the university's server.

The popularity of his position has garnered the interest of the Cameron Winklevoss brothers Tyler Winklevoss, identical twins and members of the Harvard University rowing team, and their partner Divya Narendra. As a result, they offered him to work with them as a programmer at their Harvard Connection site.

The idea of connection between people and give some privacy and publicity is the real basis for the existence of the Facebook site that we know today. According to the events of the movie The Social Network, Mark procrastinated the Winklevoss brothers while he was working on creating the site, which this time relied on that users upload their personal photos and news by themselves without the need for breach of privacy.

Mark then teamed up with Sean Parker, played by Justin Timberlake, founder of Napster Network and they made several updates to the site. After that, Mark's goal turned to acquire most of Facebook's shares at the expense of his friend, classmate and partner, Eduardo Saverin, which led to Saverin resorting to court to resolve the dispute between them.

What was Mark's reaction to the movie?

When Mark Zuckerberg was asked what he thought of The Social Network and the way the story was told, he initially joked that they had put their focus on dressing exactly right. Every T-shirt that Jesse Adam Eisenberg played was actually Mark he owned.

Mark then talked about the movie showing some right and some wrong details. He criticized the idea that the film drew attention to the idea that the creation of FaceMash came about because his girlfriend broke up with him (which did not happen in reality), and why the film linked the two events. He wondered whether there should be a story like this behind the idea of creating a website, or was it because he just liked the idea of creating websites?
