Though, it's a movie full of bloodbath and killings, the Japanese movie "DEMON CITY" is a movie full of actions. It's a revenge movie that brought out the demon as the title entails from the main cast of the movie named Sakata. But if there's a movie to watch again and again, I will still love to watch it. Though, I'm not a fan of a movie filled with bloodbath as the Demon City. But the revenge mission being carried out by the protagonist made me a fan of the movie.
Watching the movie the Demon City on a Sunday afternoon after it's released on the February 27th 2025, really made my day, after the church service was held and with a lot on my head, I decided to cool myself and my head down with this such intriguing movie, Demon city, which was directed by Seiji Tanaka with the Japanese as the original language of the movie, the movie was subtitled for we foreign watcher.
Seeing the trailer of the movie fully packed by actions really drew me to watching it and one thing I have gained from the movie is family love which was portrayed by the main character in the person of Sakata. The cinematography and the pictures of the movie were in top notch as well as the role being played by the characters which was being played to the best of their ability.
THE PLOT AND REVIEW
The movie "DEMON CITY" as being directed by Seiji Tanka is a Japanese movie and going by the title itself, it's all about a man named Sakata who happened to be the main character, this man was a hitman that killed so many people. He was killing them just to make the society a better one, but it got to a time when he decided to call it quit and retire just to take care of his family, but on his arrival at home with his wife and daughter Ryo, a gang of mask armed men invaded his residence and killed his wife and daughter, he was also brutally injured and left in the coma for 12years. All these happened in the shinjo city.
So, after all that happened at his residence, Sakata the hitman was framed for the killings of his wife and daughter and was imprisoned even when in coma, so, after he was taking to the hospital as a prisoner patient, he was been trailed to the hospital by one of the masked gangs and it's there he regained his consciousness and started his revenge mission where he killed alot of his antagonist.
It's in one of his revenge mission while trying to kill one of the mask gangsters that he got to know that his daughter was still alive and was not being killed as it was peddled around, so with this, he was angry and was stirred to take a drastic action in saving her daughter.
INTERMISSION
It's at the discovery of her daughter existence that he took it upon himself to go after those that held the daughter hostage through lies that one of them was the father of the young girl. This singular act led him to the Mahoroba resort where he killed many before meeting with the man that has been keeping her daughter as his own daughter, he fought the man and as he was about to kill him, his own biological daughter, Ryo shot him an arrow on his chest. So, after this, the man threw him out of the window and he was drove off by his friend who was later called by the leader of the gang to give Sakata the phone. The leader of the gang who happened to be the mayor of the shinjo city, told him on phone that if he wants to see his daughter and make her live long, he should come to the mahoroba resort and immediately he heard this, he drove off to the place.
At the resort, he killed and massacred many people including the masked gang members and the leader of the gang was injured, although he too was injured and his hand cut off. But he met with his daughter before he died. But he was able to protect the daughter as he was unable to protect his wife.
It's later after the whole incident that the medical and fire team came to clean up the mess caused by the killings in the place and it's discovered that the mayor who happened to be the gang member was not killed but injured, but has recovered from the injuries, the mayor was congratulated on his reelection and promised to commission the resort in a matter of time. Then after, he said he survived the attack due to his martial art experience, it's after that, that he went to pay tribute to his fallen heroes that he was being killed by Ryo, the daughter of the hitman, Sakata.
VERDICT FOR
The movie shows love for ones family and the strength to protect ones family from the enemies as being seen in the way sakata did and played in the movie when he was to take revenge of what was did to his family by the masked gang.
Also, the pictures and the video was a clean one. One other thing is his resilient towards not giving up on his mission, no matter threatened he was.
VERDICT AGAINST
The movie was full of bloodshed with the killings and massacres that took place in the movie. Not only that, even the mayor of the city who happened to be the ring leader of the masked terror gang was not a good leader to behold. How can a man who supposed to be protecting his people also be the one killing them. That's betrayal of trust on his part.
CONCLUSION
The movie is an interesting one full of action and intrigues with love and revenge being at the centre of every move of the protagonist whose name is Sakata and I will like to rate the movie 6/10. The pictures and cinematography of the movie was also in top notch and i will like to see the movie over and again. The movie is a tragic movie that is full of tragedy and even ended in tragedy. As both the main cast and the protagonist were killed at the end.
