The movie homestead as produced by Ben Smallbone and written by Phillip Abraham, Leah Bateman and Jason Ross Featured characters such as Ian Ross the billionaire, His wife, Jenna, Evie, Jeff Erikkson, Abe, Claire, Rick and many other minor character. It's an American movie, produced in the year 2024 and it's one of those movies I couldn't understand at the beginning not until the tale end.
The introductory scene of the movie was on the sea with two main character sailing a boat, though, we were shown two character sailing the boat and try to trespass beyond their territory on the sea, but being cautioned by those military in the chopper, but one thing is that, the message from the introductory scene wasn't clear as expected.
Though, it's understood that most of the introductory scene most atimes doesn't used to have any correlation with other scene in a movie, but even the other scenes in this movie, homestead, has no better transition from one scene to the other as well. As can be seen in the movie and this almost got me tired of watching the movie if not for the patience I had to watch till the end and this really helped me in getting the clearer message being passed by the story line.
The movie started on the main note with a nuclear bomb being detonated in the LA city of the United States. Though before then, families were living their normal peaceful lives, but at the detonation of the nuclear bomb, families were not comfortable with the unsettled incident caused by the detonation. So, this events shook the whole nation with the news of the detonation flying all around and this was what led families in the nation to scamper for safety. Among this families are the Jeff's family and the Malcolm families. So, it's in their scampering for SAFETY, that these two families were drawn to the fortified mountain homestead compound owned by billionaire Ian Ross and his wife Jenna with other families and survivors Verdict : National disaster.
It's at the homestead fortified compound that a whole lots happened, the first thing that happened at the homestead compound was the security threat being posed to the survivors families staying in the compound. Though a fortified compound, the people staying there were afraid of external attack and that was what led to the use of the special guard to man the homestead. The special security as led by Jeff were working day and night to protect the homestead from external and in the course of this, Abe, who happened to be Jeff's son killed an innocent hunter whom he mistook to be a terrorist and this plunged the whole compound into soberness, having realized that the hunter poised not threat to the homestead. Verdict : security of life is of great importance.
Also, another crises that shook the homestead was that of food shortage, though, they were trying to feed the refugees at the gate, but the attack on the the wheat storage by rats, complicated the food security of the homestead and this was even an headache to the billionaire man Ian Ross and his wife whom.people believe would come to their rescue due to the national disaster that the country was plunged to as a result of the nuclear bomb detonation. Both couples tried their best, but their best was not enough as both were not on the same page as to how to provide for the teaming masses.Verdict : A time of devastation.
The feeling of remorse that happened to Abe for killing the hunter man was another highlight of the movie, when he realized he had made mistakes and there's nobody to relate or pour his mind to he plotted to go to claire the millionaire's daughter to share the burden of his heart to instead of his parents whom he believed are also passing through their own issues of life. It's at Claire's bedroom that, Claire prayed for him and encouraged him to live a life of two so as to relief himself of what has happened. This she did by sharing her own experience of heart transplant. They both later became friend and an atmosphere of love came forth from their conversation.. verdict : An atmosphere of love between two young people.
Also, feeding of the people as opposed to by the billionaire and Jeff just because of the security threat was recorded by both wives of the billionaire and Jeff, this they both did out of compassion and the masses were really happy with that, most especially the Rick family who were being denied of entrance into the compound just because of the security threat that might come with it. Verdict : selflessness on the part of the women. And discrimination on the part of the men.
So, it's at the feeding of the refugees at the gate that the SWAT team came to attack the compound. Their attack was based on the th information given to them by a man who had earlier come to threatened the billionaire, it's in the course of the attack that the billionaire man was shot, he was rushed and treated, but with all these, he passed out for ten days, but within the space of the twn days, the wife has given order that all the refugees be allowed into the compound. So, when the man came back to life after the tenth day, the wife narrated everything to him as to why he allowed them in and that, she has faith in God that feeding these people wont be difficult. The husband billionaire also said he has faith in the wife. She also told the husband how the individual skill of everyone in the homestead as being of great importance to the entire compound and with this, they all live in love and sustained peace without the use of gun. Verdict: The power of faith.
Verdict for :The movie is an interesting movie full of emotion, compassion, love, selflessness faith, courage, soberness, remorsefulness, virtue, philanthropic and so on. This can be seen in the different role played by the characters in the movie. Another thing I so much cherish in the movie is the narrative style being adopted at the beginning and other part of the movie, apart from this, the solemn music being played or used in the movie really got me thrilled.
Verdict against:The introductory scene of the movie to me has nothing to do with the movie. Aside that, the scene transitions were not well coordinated and if care is not taking, one may not actually understand what message is being passed by the movie. Other things in the movie as seen in the characters are discrimination, murder, crises and other bad vices as being seen in the movie.
Rating : I will like to rate the movie 7/10.
The homestead is an interesting movie, though will it lapses, I will still go for it anytime, anyday.
