While skimming through countless YouTube Videos, the trailer of this movie suddenly caught the attention, the thumbnail was interesting enough to ignite the urge to give it a watch. But upon finishing the trailer, the plotline came off as one of those overused airplane hijack movies and I was already tired of the same old shit.
However, one particular comment under the video made me question whether or not it fell into that overproduced same old hijack plotlines category and to test the credibility of that strangers comment, I decided to give it a try.
The movie starts with the good old fashion way, everyone causally living their normal routine of lives, a stubble introduction and backstories of the major characters and then the unsettling entry of the terrorist. Everything started to fall into the mostly predictable storyline, but just when you get comfortable enough with the upcoming plot dynamic, the film would throw a complete U- turn of the situation and leave you dumbfounded. From that point on, as the movie progressed, the only thing that was on top of my head was, does this shit ever gonna end.
You see, during this lifetime, I’ve seen my enough share of thriller/mystery movies but only a very few of those ended up making me glued to my seat, high with a nerve wrecking thrill, trying to predict the end which just wasn’t meeting the mark. And safe to say, this movie turned out to be one of those.
After finishing it, I had the urge to know how the people surrounding my social life would react upon watching it, and to achieve that I ended up dragging the lazy, non-existent Medusa into the experimental seat. Well, safe to say, she ended up crying, which I honestly didn’t expect, but hey, that means the movie could emotionally make you attached to the characters and the unfolding situations, which to some extent is true. It did make you double think about Human nature, more so after the whole COVID-19 disaster.
In the end, I have to be thankful to that one particular commenter, for whom I ended up watching a good thriller movie after a while.
I recognize the name Park HAE Joon. I just might give it a try. I'm glad to read it defied your expectations.
I can safely say that you won't be disappointed, if you are looking for emotionally roller-costar like ride with thrilling effect :v
