You give a compelling and well thought out review here without any real spoilers. I wasn't interested in seeing the requal before reading your review. After all who can touch the power of the first one. Even the second one was fairly good. I stopped watching the Scream franchise after that second one. At some point what sparks magic burns out. Yet, after reading this post, I have to say I'm keen to watch Scream (2022).

I have this idea that when a film franchise hits the third movie it's usually downwards from there. Off the top of my head Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was a good third movie in the franchise. This one was alright considering it's fifth in line but that doesn't say too much.
As for this one, the first as usual is best one and I vaguely remember the second one. The rest were literally forgettable as I can't remember them 😀
