Another year has come and gone, and 2024 delivered a rollercoaster of entertainment. From massive cinematic epics to unforgettable TV moments, this was a year of hits, misses, and surprises. Here’s a recap of what stood out, what fell flat, and, of course, my MVPs of the year.

The Masterpieces Dune: Part Two and Arcane
Let me start with the MVPs because these deserve the spotlight. For movies, Dune: Part Two was an absolute masterpiece. Denis Villeneuve delivered a visually stunning, emotionally charged, and narratively gripping continuation of Paul Atreides’ journey. Every desert shot, every note of Hans Zimmer’s score, and every tense moment between characters was pure cinematic gold. It wasn’t just the best movie of the year—it was a testament to what modern filmmaking can achieve.
On the TV side, nothing—NOTHING—came close to Arcane season 2. Arcane season 2 was an unstoppable force. The animation was revolutionary, the storytelling was heart-wrenching, and the characters felt painfully real. Jinx and Vi’s tragic relationship was the emotional gut-punch of the year. Arcane wasn’t just TV’s masterpiece; it was the best thing in entertainment. Period.
The Big Blockbusters
2024 brought plenty of big-budget spectacles, but not all of them stuck the landing.
The Marvels: Cosmic fun with Kamala Khan stealing the show, but the plot felt a bit overloaded. A good time, but not groundbreaking.
Fast X: Over-the-top car stunts, family drama, and physics-defying action. It’s fun, sure, but I think it’s time for this franchise to pump the brakes.
The Creator: A thoughtful sci-fi gem that surprised me with its heartfelt exploration of AI and humanity. It stood out in a year full of sequels.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom: Jason Momoa is as charming as ever, and Atlantis looks fantastic, but the story? Messy.
TV Triumphs Beyond Arcane
While Arcane reigned supreme, other TV shows made waves:
Fallout: A gritty, post-apocalyptic adaptation that stayed true to its video game roots while delivering a compelling story.
Avatar: The Last Airbender: Netflix took on the beloved animated series with mixed but respectable results. It wasn’t perfect, but it captured the heart of the original.
3 Body Problem: An ambitious adaptation of the sci-fi classic, tackling big ideas about humanity and our place in the cosmos.
The Unexpected Gems
Not everything that stood out this year came with a blockbuster budget:
The Gentlemen: Expanding Guy Ritchie’s snarky, stylish crime world into a series was a genius move. Sharp dialogue and slick action all the way.
Wonka: A whimsical delight that brought back the magic of Willy Wonka.
Alien: Romulus: Dragged the Alien franchise back to its horror roots and delivered a chilling, atmospheric experience.
The Misses That Made Me Sigh
Not everything could be a winner.
Fast X: Too much "family," not enough plot.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom: A visual feast, but the story was all over the place.
The Marvels: Fun but chaotic.
2024’s Legacy
When I look back at 2024, it’s clear what stood out: Dune: Part Two for its sweeping cinematic excellence and Arcane for redefining what animation and storytelling can achieve. These weren’t just highlights—they were the gold standard.
So here’s to another year of entertainment that made me laugh, cry, and rant into the void. 2024 gave us plenty to remember, and I can’t wait to see what 2025 has in store.
2024 MVPs:
🎬 Dune: Part Two – The masterpiece of cinema
📺 Arcane – The masterpiece of TV and the year’s ultimate winner
Rating the year? A solid 8/10.
Dune and Arcane are best in my own opinion too. A lot of good movies came out but Dune stood out
