FALLING INTO US // A REVIEW

in CineTV9 days ago

Whilst watching this movie, I kept saying to myself that we would need to apologise to “Love Unplanned” cause some of us felt disappointed with that movie but in my opinion, it turns out that that movie is a blockbuster where this one is…and I’m not even joking.

I went through a torturous 1hour 59minutes on YouTube just to convince myself that this could be good. Although the movie started to make some sense about 20 minutes to the end, however, it still managed to be just as annoying.

Everyone just appeared to be shouting from the start, which made it too rowdy for comfort. The razness…oh my! I know the makeup thing on Kie-Kie was to make it funny, but that was rather embarrassing & irritating than funny.

There are some producers you don’t expect certain movies from. Shockingly, everyone seems to be going more for the bag , and they tend to lose sight of the best way to bag the bag!

With all due respect to ma’am Biodun Stephen ‘BS’ that role made me uncomfortable for her. She later toned it down, making the movie appear like two persons had directed it - beginning & end! Some of her lines were catchy and hilarious too, but on the whole…it was below expectations.

The storyline is not different from the usual maid coming to the house and oga falling in love with the maid as she becomes the next best thing after hot beans!

The plot was tweaked a little to portray how some families are only interested in the pocket of their breadwinner and not necessarily his wellbeing. This was good. I just wished they had channeled the style of storytelling into better use instead of adopting a stale redundant approach.

Comedy drama or dramedy is not a bad thing as it were, but when its aim is defeated, what can the viewers do? I understand that many persons would be sounding their sirens at this like “wow…wow…wow…what a beautiful and hilarious movie!” Bla bla bla…this was not for me. No offense!

Maybe ma’am Biodun Stephen wanted to show us her collection of jewelries and glasses with all that display or possibly to show us this aspect of her versatility. It, however, did not do it for me as this felt like a secondary school drama class project.

I had to watch on a 1.5x speed to save myself from more torture.

MY THOUGHTS

Okunzuwa (Bobby Ekpe) works from home for “one of the biggest tech companies in the whole world” according to his girlfriend Clara (Miwa Olorunfemi). His mother ‘Queen Maker’ (Biodun Stephen) and his brother connive with his girlfriend to siphon money from him.

Okunzuwa is so absorbed in his work that he can barely clean after himself till Clara decides to employ the services of Nora (Kiekie) as househelp.

The rest you can already predict or conclude.

There were so many head scratchers and eye rollers…I’d rather not pick them out. I think I’ve said enough already.

Bobby Ekpe still managed to hold his own, but his character appeared like a confused child…!

You can watch this if you like if you haven’t seen it already but my job here’s done! If i were to rate this, I'd give it a 3/10.
