I honestly thought l’ll watch this movie much later as I had a lineup of others on my list, but I just couldn’t resist the urge for a good laugh given the vibes from the trailer. And boy! Did this deliver? ABSOLUTELY; premium laughter, actually. I kidn’t you!
If you ask me, I would say this movie should have been titled “A Web of Desires” as opposed to “The Triangle of Desires” because it was such an intertwined situation going on. It reminded me of the oldies Nigerian soap opera 'Fuji House of Commotion' only that this is best described as Fuji office of commotion. Lmao.
My best characters are:
HR: Dude speaks so well. I think I just may have found another favorite actor. He acts naturally, too.
Sandra the Therapist: Linda Osifo played this role like she was born for it! The way she was switching from English to pidgin and back. Ah! I love her all the more now!
Lucy: Modola! That girl needs to be stopped at this point! Oh no! Ignore that…she can’t be stopped cause she was made for this! Her British accent and her acting skills are a perfect blend. The way she was dishing out slaps to everyone in the group office, I’m pleased she got served in the end.
The entire cast and crew understood the assignment and delivered crisp. Initially, when the movie started, I felt the cast was excessive, but it later worked out well.
Should we talk about Lizzy Jay or Flora 222 (a.k.a Floxy Florendo) or Mummywa? Oh boy! This was a good comedy, no cap! The continuity and editing plus the sound effects just kept the pace going, I didn’t even feel the duration of 2hours+
At some point, this felt more like a TV series rather than a feature film. You know shows like Fuji House of Commotion, Clinic Matters, My Mum & I, The Johnsons, etc.
There was hardly any dull moment with all the catastrophe, gbas gbos & snitching flying around. Even though someone’s body language gave them away (which became apparent or deliberate eventually), I loved the twist & big reveal in the end. What a ‘hypothetically hypothetical’ dramedy this is!
“The Triangle of Desires” highlights what could go wrong in an office setting should there be some form of unprofessionalism practiced from superior to subordinates - insubordination, gross misconduct, disorderliness & a general lack of respect between colleagues.
Hypothetically, (borrowing the word from the movie), a situation like this can present itself in the Nigerian workplace where staff can sometimes throw caution to the wind and engage in unscrupulous attitudes even in the official setting.
Although there were some hiccups here and there like Ajoke referring to Lucy as Sandra during a fight, the audio at the start not being audible enough and a few others, this nonetheless is such a hilarious drama.
Kudos to everyone involved in this project.
This is a perfect movie to watch with family and friends. You can watch with children too as the use of language appears kid-friendly, albeit parental guidance is still advised.
The movie comes recommended at a score of 7/10.
Thanks for stopping by.
SOKA 🖤
