"Someone Great" this movie didn't pop up in my notification; someone recommended it to me, and at that moment in my life, I was going through something that would make me resonate with the movie. Well, I didn't object to that. Rather, I just wanted to watch the movie for myself.
The Plot
The movie tells the story of Jenny, who had just broken up with her long-time partner on the eve of her cross-country move. Jenny felt devastated because she wanted her boyfriend of nine years to consider doing long distance with her, but rather, he called it a quit.
To nurse her broken heart, Jenny decides to gather her two best friends and have one last adventure in the city of New York before she leaves.
My Review
Time to share my story. I watched this movie when I had my very first breakup, and that was my first love as well, so you could imagine what I was going through at that moment of my life. I graduated from the university with heartbreak. "What an award it is," so the movie resonated with everything I was going through at that point in my life.
Seeing Jenny going through all that, It was very hard to move on; sometimes, she tries different methods just to forget about her boyfriend, but in all, she finds herself reminiscing back on those amazing moments they had and shared.
I am glad she had friends who would whisper these words, "You don't have to keep holding on to those feelings; let it all go," to her often; these words made her strong but not truly strong though, but then, to an extent, they did.
And the funny thing is the part that whatever Jenny does reminds her of him. Even the slightest thing, like when her favorite song suddenly played at the mall, Jenny couldn't hold herself but shield tears and started sharing her breakup story with a total stranger, and the stranger listened.
In all, the movie is a masterpiece, and I loved it; the movie gives us an insight into relationships that people don't usually talk about because we mostly talk about things people can relate to, although when it comes to relationships, you can't only relate with your partner.
"How do you deal with breakup?" Imagine spending nine good years with this one, where you guys have gotten so used to each other that you know the next words the person is likely to utter at any time. And all of a sudden you are faced with the reality of experiencing life alone without that person by your side.
I'm gonna recommend this to anyone who seems interested in watching it.
