It is true that "disability isn't an impossibility." I've seen and believed that disability isn't a reason to rely on others for help; being disabled doesn't mean our dreams should be disabled.
Disabled physically but able on the inside "in the mind," recently, I was looking for movies to watch to make my weekend worthwhile, so I stumbled upon this movie titled "Unstoppable." The title grabbed my attention. So I went further into downloading without delay.
When I turned in and was watching, the few lines showed it was based on a true-life story, which made me eager to watch the movie more. I love movies that are based on true life stories "I don't know why," maybe because I get to know that someone like this exists.
The plot
The movie tells the story of Anthony Robles, who was born without a right leg; he was raised by his mother, Judy Robles, who was played by "Jennifer Lopez" despite Anthony's physical disability, he possessed a resilient spirit. In high school, Anthony developed a passion for wrestling and decided to join the school team. Initially, he was being doubted by coaches and teammates.
After finishing high school, Anthony decided to wrestle at the college level; after winning one of his matches, he was offered a scholarship to study at a prestigious college, but Anthony had his eyes on another who didn't want him.
After a few trials, he chooses to go to another college, where he is accepted with the main purpose of staying close to his family. Anthony faces numerous struggles like his stepfather exhibiting abusive behavior and threatening his mother. Anthony draws strength from his mother's unending support and belief in his abilities.
My View
When the movie started off and I saw Anthony wrestling with one leg, I was shocked, I paid more attention to that scene and was very eager to know how he was gonna win against someone that is more balanced on the ground. I watched as I stayed glued to my phone; I watched as Anthony created more balance with his hands to support the only leg he had.
At that moment, I realized that disability doesn't mean impossibility; anything is possible as long our determination is in place. Even coaches didn't believe in him; he believed in himself that he could do it, and he did it.
I'm gonna say this movie is very inspiring and at some point it made me tear up like a child, the movie also possesses an unbelievable desire to motivate the viewers to achieve whatever they set for themselves, though some dreams might seem unattainable and getting negative feedback from people and it shows that "it shouldn't stop us" we can be whatever we want to be.
The movie doesn't just reflect on Anthony alone; it also talks about his mum, Judy, who is in an abusive relationship physically and emotionally.
Often Anthony will look at his mother and be like
"Why do you stay with that cheater, promise me you won't call him and when he calls you, you won't pick up the phone, promise me, Mum".
Seeing him saying those words to his mother with tears in his eyes was the most emotional moment for me; I'm not gonna lie; it made tears fill my eyes.
I'm gonna recommend this movie to anyone interested in watching it because this movie speaks the truth, the reality of a situation, and being able to grow and move forward in achieving goals despite the obstacles life throws. I'm gonna rate it 9/10
