"Cars, cars are some of the most intoxicating, most beautiful things ever forged by mankind." - Jeremy Clarkson
Jezza said it, and you have to agree with it. I sure as hell saw it and felt it back when I was just a child.
Cars have always been a thing of fascination, from my childhood days to now, that little car enthusiast still lives on. From just sitting behind the steering wheel in my younger days, to learning how to drive in my early teens, to covering the long distances in my adult years, I've seen and done it all behind the wheel.
A few car crashes and bumps here and there, a few bruises on my lovely, the one that is so dear.
Fortunately, even my friends back from school were all "car guys", we used be quite notorious drivers around these areas, well known for our loud cars and high-speed antics.
Now, anyone can hit the accelerator and hold a steering wheel straight to reach top speeds, but maneuverability was the most rare among us all. Yet, I believe I was quite good when it came to navigating through the narrowest of streets and crammed up traffic jams.
That's all because I knew my car well; I knew every inch of it, every curve, the aerodynamical arches, also every stunningly protruding features on the body. At a certain point, whenever I sat behind the wheel, we just became one, it all felt natural; every gear, every single hit on the rev limiter, leading to the intense purring, as she speeds up ferociously.
Back in school when the boys were all busy skipping class for sports, or occupied reading about the subject they like, I used to read Top Gear magazine that I would sneak into class haha. Of course, I had my fair share of class bunking too, for the love of sport. But cars were something else, and obviously anything car related wasn't allowed in school, so that would have to wait till the bell rang.
Scouring through the bookshops for the latest Top Gear magazines or any other automobile magazine was my thing. Before I hit 6th grade, I had quite the collection of car magazines, 80% of it being just Top Gear. Turning on the TV to watch some Top Gear was another part of the day that I looked forward to, I just couldn't get enough of that show. What I loved the most was all the banter between Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May; probably one of the greatest trios and shows in the history of cars, journalism, entertainment and Television itself.
Sadly, I'm not much of an enthusiast anymore, because I can't afford to keep up with it all. But cars, well built cars actually, the legendary trio and show I mentioned, the love for all of it is still intact.
Some of my hobbies do come close and can compete with the motorhead that lives inside of me, but I believe that the motorhead will emerge victorious, every damn time.
cool car. But bro cost cutting has hit automotive industry very hard. fake plastic radiator grills, cosmetic mufflers that couldnt pass out even a fart and what not. The face of that Honda is completely made of plastic. Sigh!
Cost cutting has hit a lot of sectors, and the fake "plasticy" thingamajigs and parts have always been around, nowadays they're just more common here. Options in the aftermarket and modification sector can now offer parts of any quality, the more premium options and the cheap ones too. Actual car companies and reconditioned car market though, we have no control over that and they just look at their own profit margins.
No, no, no, this isn't your daily driven sedan, where the bumpers are being made mostly of plastic. Even some sport cars use the same material, like a Civic or something. These common cars range from $20,000 to maybe $50,000 in USD.
This is the new 2nd Gen NSX, it falls under the supercar category and these cars are priced from $150k and above. Such cars usually have a unibody structure made out of Aluminium or carbon fibre, stainless steel too, sometimes even a mix of some sorts is uitlized. Even the original NSX from the early 90s had an all-aluminium body.
If we go higher with our budget, then at least 60% of the car will be in carbon fibre, sometimes all naked carbon fibre, all quite visible to our eyes.
😀 quite interesting. I love cars too, and I love driving them even more. I can't say I'm as much an expert as you and I still don't even know a lot of car features, but as I usually am, I ask questions every chance I get and learn.
There's a certain oneness and euphoria for me too everytime I ease into the driver's side of a car. I always feel different with each type of car and I haven't been in many, not even the ones that are "well built". One on my bucket list is one of the fast cars, the very fast race cars. Looking forward to speeding as fast as I want on those long empty tracks 😍.
PS: That's a beautiful car. I usually like them shiny. I see it's a Honda. What's it called? Oh and which race car is your favourite?
I'm no expert, but I do have more "car-knowledge" than the average person haha.
Oh, I know what you're talking about. It's a feeling that even the non-car-people can feel, but not as strongly as car enthusiasts.
Fast cars aren't so easy to maneuver, quite dangerous machines I'd say. All the thingamajigs inside can be quite overwhelming for the average person, even I get lost sometimes, behind the cockpit of contraptions. Same goes for the speed, supercars aren't easy to control and that increases the chances of accidents and car crashes.
It surely a beautiful car, this thing was among some of the showstoppers on that evening. It's the new Honda NSX, and this is the only one in the country. It's quite a rare car, the owner had to pay a hefty price too.
And I myself really don't have a favorite, there is a fairly big list though. But at the moment if I had to choose one then it'd be a late 60s Dodge Charger.
Ugh! Chargers! I see them used in movies a lot and boy are they fast. The sound of the engine too... love!
Honda NSX, the only one in the country. Damn! If I had a car like that, I'd probably sleep in it 😄. Of course it's super expensive.
Yeah, I get how dangerous they are. Won't stop me though. I mean I'd of course not be as fast as a typical racer but I'd go fast anyway. Just for the experience.
I'd like to see more car-enthusiastic posts. Is there a community like that?
Very true haha. Overly used in the F&F franchise mostly. 😂
Seating area is small, no way you'd be able to sleep in a car like that. 😬
Just make sure the roads are empty lol.
I haven't seen many car posts or communities on Hive, but you can keep your eyes on this community of ours. I'll be posting more, whenever I get the chance.
Oh I didn't realise. Hehe
Look at me, didn't even bother to look at the community from which I read your post 🤦🏾♀️ #wheelsoflife, of course! Alright then, thanks! 😁
You are welcome. 🥃
I didn't have any 'car guys' in my school days, not even in my college days or now. We were mostly surrounded with bikes and here in my place, this is what is common.
The only car-related stuff that happened to me was the NFS:MW and GTA Vice City memories, hehe.
You drifted on the roads and I did on the games. 😁
Car person or not, these games are common for our generation, they're always on our list of favorites, ALWAYS.
No, no, no, for me it was always a combination of both actually haha. And when it comes to driving, the games came first, starting with NFS 1 and 2.
Have you tried Need for Speed Unbound?
Not yet, I don't think I'm gonna play it even. The story seems dull, once again.
So what's your choice in this category?
If it's a single player game, then it should have a good story, one that is AT LEAST 20 hours long. Online/competitive games are different.
The only way I could feed my fascination with cars when I was a kid was playing NFS and nagging to my parents to buy me another set of remote control when the old one broke apart. I never had anyone to talk about them sadly cause the girls my age were usually more into dolls than anything else, so yeah, games and toys were all I had...
You are one of the boys then, one of us.
I've always thought that dolls are weird, whether you play with them or keep them set it one place. Those weird smiles on their faces, creepy AF...
