Mr. and Mrs. Williams decided to use this period of the holiday since their two children also were home to go to the Obudu Cattle ranch for a weekend. Both parents said that they had found out that the ranch in the Obaniku Local Government Area of the northern part of Cross River State, has many interesting and enjoyable features. It is about 30 minutes drive from Obudu town and about five hours' drive from Calabar, the state capital. It has a helipad, that is, a small area where helicopters can take off and land.
On a Friday, the family set off from Port Harcourt for the trip. They got to the entrance of the ranch at the bottom hill. They could go to the hilltop by a cable car or they could travel up by road. Joseph, who had never been in a cable car shouted, "Daddy let's go by the cable car". "This is an interesting experience", Beatrice said when they got to the top hill in the cable car.
At the ranch, they saw very fat cattle that produce fresh milk, butter, meat, and cheese. Mr. Williams took pictures of the swimming pool that has a long winding waterfall.
They were led to view beautiful mountains and watch the uncommon birds that live there. Beatrice especially had a very interesting time watching butterflies at the conservation area. they watched people riding horses. After walking on a sixty-kilometer canopy walkway, Mrs. Williams exclaimed, "I feel healthy and full of energy".
On Sunday, they returned to Port Harcourt. Joseph and Beatrice told their friends that "It was an unforgettable experience".
