After the money doubler gave Agu double of his two hundred naira.The money doubler then advised Agu to run home and get a bigger sum to be doubled . ' Tell nobody about this,' the money doubler warned, 'it is a secret, and failure to keep it brings severe punishment from the goddess'.
'I must obey the law,' promised Agu, 'I am not a child to be reminded of it'.
Agu told him that he had only five hundred naira at home. 'Make it one thousand by all means,borrow as much as you can. After all, you have only this chance to be very wealthy', advised the money doubler. Agu promised to do his best to come back within a short time.He humbly begged the money doubler to be patient and wait for him. 'Don't mind,' he assured Agu, I am very anxious to help poor people'.
Agu then left.Shortly afterwards he came back with one thousand five hundred naira and handed the sum over to the money doubler.
'I borrowed one thousand naira, 'he said, ' from my friend Udoma,a trader.'
'Good ,wise man,' the money doubler praised, 'you are now quite sure of three thousand'.
From his skin bag, the money doubler brought out a parcel.He commanded Agu to keep it inside his box and never open it until the third day. Agu firmly promised to obey and both of them left.
When Agu reached home,he acted exactly as he was directed.
On the third day. Agu opened the parcel only to find papers cut to the same size of currency notes. He became very sad for he was now poorer. He ran quickly to the bank but could not see the money doubler. 'I have learnt a lesson,' he murmured, 'never to deal with money doubler.
