Personal Development : Form Strong Teams With Personal Leadership

in Education2 years ago

Today we're going to dig into personal development that is the foundation for leadership roles in.

Leadership is the ability of an individual or a group of individuals to influence, and guide followers or other members of an organization . Leaders focus on guiding themselves and others to do the right things. – Marry Prat

Not all individuals serving in leadership roles consider themselves leaders, which is where this conversation begins. There are times when we find ourselves in positions of leadership and still have personal growth needed to really lean into the position and the role.

Now, some of you stepping into leadership roles as opportunities for career growth and development without realizing there are personal development components that are key foundations for that leadership.

It's kind of akin to Parenthood generally at the outset we never realize the amount of growth and development we do on the adult personal side of parenting when we're also serving in that capacity of raising the children. It's hindsight that brings us this wisdom.

One of the most fundamental premises to understand when in a leadership role is that it's not about you. Learning to separate the personal from the leadership professional is an essential and a must occur component entirely in the realm of personal development, and it must occur before it can be mastered on the leadership side.

Leaders serve others, they serve the greater good of the organization for which they are apart and solely for the betterment of that group. As we've discussed previously, a leader serving for other purposes will find significant challenge within the experience as will the board or
Organization.

Serving the greater good ultimately means while you are personally contributing your time, energy, talents, it cannot be personal; and by that I mean you cannot make decisions based upon how others might view you when you're in a leadership role, and keeping that larger mission of the organization at the heart of all of your focus, and your energy can really assist with leaning in that service to others.

Developing a thick skin and a lack of caring of the personal outcomes while caring deeply about the organizational outcomes requires some intensely personal work to ensure continued focus on those organizational goals.

It also requires strength in personal fortitude when one is a leader of multiple organizations or serving in multiple leadership roles. It takes finesse and grace to manage the many roles and hats and not become consumed or lost in that navigation.

The best approach to this growth is in focused personal development time. Many professionals in leadership and executive roles engage personal development coaches o executive coaches to target strategies for leading themselves and leading their organizations

A lot of the problem now is that there are way too many that are in the leadership roles for the entirely wrong reason, and as far as my personal opinion goes, I would like to see term limits on all government leaders. In theory, the governmental leadership is supposed to be freely chosen, but as a past president in this country said in a famous speech, that the presidents are selected, not elected. There are things occurring now that ought not be done @hollowins. As far as corporations go, no outsiders have any bearing on their leadership outcomes.
