Teaching little children about God - Part 19

in Education3 years ago

Last week we celebrated Easter, which is the celebration of what Jesus did for us on the cross.

I have taught you about Jesus, that He is the Son of God. God send Jesus to earth, He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born onto this earth through the Virgin Mary.

Since Adam was created and fall to sin in paradise, we could not live a sinless life and need the blood offering to cleans us from our sins. This offering was brought yearly by the High Priest for the people of God.

God decided that He will send his Son, Jesus that was without sin to be offered for us, for once and for all. Because of sin, death came. Let's read what Bible says:

If you serve sin as your master, it will pay you with death. But if you belong to our Lord Jesus Christ, God gives you a gift! That gift is life with God forever.
Romans 6:23 EASY

Jesus did 3 things for us, that we could not do for ourselves:

  1. He lived a sinless life in our place.
  2. He died on a cross for us.
  3. He rose from the dead, he conquered death.

All people die because of what one man did. That was Adam. And it is because of another man that people can rise up after death to a new life. That is Christ. As people, all of us belong to Adam's family. So all of us must die. But all people who belong to Christ will live again after death.
1 Corinthians 15:21‭-‬22 EASY

Jesus knew what horrible death was waiting on Him, and He was praying to His Father, if possible to save him from this.

Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done.”
Matthew 26:42 NKJV

So the Jewish leaders caught Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. They brought Him before the Jewish High Priest to be tried. They wanted Jesus dead and wrongly accused him of things He did not do. https://bible.com/bible/114/mat.26.42.NKJV

Then they took him to the Roman Ruler, Pontias Pilate. He asked Jesus questions, but Jesus did not defend Himself. Then Pilate asked the Jewish people:
“What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” They all said to him, “Let Him be crucified!”
Matthew 27:22 NKJV

The soldiers took Jesus away. They mocked Him, put a purple robe on Him, and push a crown of thorns into His head. They also flogged Him. Then they dressed him again in his normal clothes and they made Him carry His cross until Jesus was falling down, the soldiers commanded a man, named Simon of Cyrene to further carry the cross. Let's read from the Bible what happened further:

And when they had come to a place called Golgotha, that is to say, Place of a Skull, they gave Him sour wine mingled with gall to drink. But when He had tasted it, He would not drink. Then they crucified Him, and divided His garments, casting lots, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet: “They divided My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast lots.”
Matthew 27:33‭-‬35 NKJV

While Jesus was hanging on the cross, the earth became dark for 3 hours, there was an earthquake, some tombs opened, and some saints were raised from the death. The veil in the Temple was torn in two.

Jesus then called out with a loud voice:

He said, “Father, ‘into Your hands I commit My spirit.’ ” Having said this, He breathed His last.

Jesus died and the soldier that witnessed all these events said: surely, this was the Son of God.

Early evening, a rich man, named Joseph from Arimathea, who also became a disciple of Jesus, went to Pilate. He asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Pilate instructed the soldiers to give the body of Jesus to Joseph. Joseph took the body to a burial place, wrapped the body in a clean linen cloth and laid it down in a tomb cut into rock. He rolled a large rock before the opening.

Next time we look at Jesus' resurrection..
