Teaching little children about God - Part 20

in Education3 years ago

Previously we looked at Jesus crucifixion. We saw that he was buried. Today we look at Jesus' resurrection.

Jesus disciples were devastated. They did not fully understand what had happened to Jesus, although He taught them before:

After this, Jesus began to explain everything to his disciples. He told them, ‘I must go to Jerusalem. There, people will cause me to have great pain. The important Jews, the leaders of the priests, and the teachers of God's Law will hurt me. Then people will kill me. But three days later, God will cause me to become alive again.’

The Pharisees also said to Pilate, Jesus said he will rise from the grave on the 3rd day. They convinced Pilate to seal the grave with a very big stone and put guards by the entrance.

On the morning of the third day, Mary Magdalene and Mary, the mother of James they got up early, and went to the grave. At that moment the ground started to shake, and an Angel came from heaven, and rolled away the stone. The soldiers who were guarding the grave were very afraid and fell to the ground, they could not move.

The angel told the women: "don't be afraid, you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth and He is not here, the soldiers crucified Him on a cross, but He has become alive, like He said He would."
He told the women to go look inside the tomb, and they saw it was empty.

The angel said to them:

Then you must go quickly to his disciples. Tell them, “Jesus is alive again, and he is going to Galilee. You must also go there and you will see him.” That is the message that I have brought for you.’

The woman quickly went to go tell His disciples, they were very glad but also a bit afraid. While they were still on their way, Jesus appeared to them. He greeted them, and they fell at His feet and worshiped Him. Jesus said to them: don't be afraid, go tell my disciples to go to Galilee, I will meet them there.

That same evening, the disciples were together in a room and the doors were closed. Suddenly Jesus appeared in the room between the disciples, and said to them Peace be with you
Jesus showed his disciples, His wounds in his hands and in His side. They disciples were very glad when they recognised Jesus.
The disciple, Thomas was not there and when the other disciples told him, he did not believe them. He said he will only believe if he put his fingers in Jesus' wounds in his hands and his side.

Let's read from the Bible what happened:

And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, “Peace to you!” Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.” And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Jesus in the 40 days after His resurection, appeared on several occasions to his disciples.
Jesus's 11 disciples went to Galilee. They climb up Mount Olive, where Jesus told them to go. As soon as they were there, they saw Jesus. They went down on their knees and worshiped Jesus.
Jesus gave his disciples a very important command.

Let's read what that was.

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Jesus, lifted His hands up, and He was blessing the disciples. While they were watching Him he was taken up in heaven into the clouds, so they could not see him anymore.

Thank you for reading.

Glory to God! Jesus is risen, He's alive and He lives in you and I. Now He has become our great High Priest interceding for us and He is seated at the right hand of God, far above all principalities and powers. Thank you ma for sharing so beautifully.

All glory to God. I was just wondering if I should continue explaining to kids, where is Jesus now and what He is doing?
Your comment might just steer me into that direction.
Thank you for commenting. Blessings.

I do have some great Christian materials for children. It's the Rhapsody of Realities for kids and early readers. I could send you a link to get them for your kids as you teach them about Jesus.

It's my pleasure ma. I love talking about Jesus too.
