The experiments at home are a very valuable tool that we have to take advantage of, they offer us infinite possibilities that we must use to teach. Today we will continue studying what is the Center of Gravity through an experiment that will leave you fascinated and surprised.Hello friends of @hive, the education of our children is fundamental for us as parents and that is why we always have to look for the best teaching tools that help us transmit knowledge in a practical and fun way.
It is important that you are supervised by one of your parents since we will use a little fire.
Before starting the fun it is important that we know a basic concept.
What is the Center of Gravity?
The center of gravity is the point where all the gravitational forces that are exerted on a body are found. It is the place where the sagittal, frontal and horizontal planes meet.Source
Materials:
Two forks
A wooden toothpick
Two glasses of glass
A lighter or something with which we can fire.
Procedures:
First of all we place the two glasses on top of each other, placing the first with the mouth down and the second above.
Then we take our forks and we intertwine them by the teeth, together with the wooden stick.
Then place it in the glass so that we locate the center of gravity and that the two forks do not fall.
But what would happen if we burned the end of the toothpick inside the glass? Will the forks fall? let's see what happens?
What has happened?
The two forks manage to obtain their balance when achieving to place their center of gravity, below their point of support. What happens when burning the part of the toothpick that is inside the glass is that the mass that burns does not significantly affect the center of gravity that continues to be below its point of support.
anymore and put it into practice.
