You do not need a certificate to teach your children English or foreign languages. If your family is bilingual, you will practice easily.

Asking your kids to sit down and listen to your teaching activities may cause them to get bored. You will never achieve your goal of teaching a foreign language. You may be able to make your children sit down and listen to you at one or two meetings. Yet, your children will have thousands of reasons not to study anymore.
I tried to teach my kids in simple ways without burdening them. Here are the tricks.

  1. Classification of everyday words or phrases
You should collect words or phrases for daily use. Write the words and phrases in a notebook.
  2. Setting weekly objectives
You should create goals for the week. How many words do your children need to master in a week. Two expressions and five vocabulary words in a week are not burdensome. Besides that, your children's memories will be stronger for the goal of the week.
  3. Create and display words or expressions on the wall by writing and drawing them.
I posted the words of the week in a room where the kids could see them every day.
  4. Before they play with their gadgets, have your children practice or pronounce the words of the week.I always ask my kids to practice the words as a requirement before playing.
  5. Change the words or expressions of the week after your children can speak fluently. Make the words or expressions the short daily conversation of the language target. You can use the words to talk to your children using simple questions and answers.

Can you count how many words and expressions that your children will master in a year. If there are 48 weeks in a year, your children will master 240 words and 96 expressions. You should not sit for hours like in a classical classroom when teaching English or foreign languages. What you need to do is stick to your weekly goals or objectives. Do you want to try those tricks at home? I hope the tricks will work. On the other hand, you can modify the tricks to fit your children's habits and characteristics so that your kids will not get bored.

Thats great... 👍

I should definitely try this to my future kids. : )

I tried to my kids and it worked well

Wow.. this is quite an effective way to teach English or other foreign language.. Like in Malaysia. Many student need to learn around three language.. Bahasa Malaysia is compulsory then English is secondary and Chinese is optional. In Brunei, last time I studied there, English is the main language and I studied Jawi too..

In Indonesia English is still foreign language. Chinese is learned in a private school only. However, the jobs'requeirement forces many students learn English.

hi hi... bro.. So the job market requires students to learn English. what about those who don't learn it, do the local companies hire?

That what makes me confused, in Indonesia most big companies will recruit applicants who speak and write English for in office positions or managerial position. In fact, after work, they speak indonesian ..LOL. I think it is the prestige of the HRD.

Workers who do not to use English as the screening requirements are manufacture labourers, mechanics, drivers and other manual workers.

Hi hi... Do you think many Indonesians speak English? Or Indonesians? I have met many Indonesians in Brunei and Miri here. Very hardworking. Not ordinary hardworking. Is very hardworking.

In Brunei, most of the Brunei malays are English educated sent to the UK. So mostly speaks English. Malaysia, most of the population can speak English and BM. But I can see that Indonesia is growing very fast. Next time is going to be a strong economy.

In the last few years, English was taught from primary schools and the result is today. However, since 2015 or 2016 if was not mistaken, English subject was eliminated from state primary school. Today, English is taught in private school where most the students are from middle up families.

Indonesia has so many declines in many aspects from social and politics. We hate among others due to sentiments of religions and ethnics. Cases of corruption increases in the pandemic.

A country will be a great country or not depends on the politicians. I do not see that most politicians in Indonesia have good will. They tend to take profit for their personals and groups.

If there is a trigger that causes racial conflicts most big cities will be in burnt because of mass conflicts. That is very bad situation today in Indonesia. It is like "Api dalam sekam" in peribahasa. "fire in the shell of rice". Just need the trigger.

Hi hi.. bang.. ooo because in the news I see President Jokowi.. he is doing a good job. Stopping corruption and is making Indonesia growing stronger and stronger. Oo.. maybe that is what the media shows to the world. I think in all countries, the politician wants to benefit themselves.

Now, only private school teach English is pretty sad to hear. I think English and BM should both be subjects in school to make any country better. Thank you for letting me know ur opinion. Keep it up.. I will support u.. =)
