Noble words : Lust for wealth is harmful.

in Education6 days ago

Many of us like to amass enormous amount of wealth. No body is content with what they have with them. While having a healthy desire for financial security and stability is reasonable, the problem arises when the pursuit of wealth becomes obsessive and consumes a person's life to the detriment of other important aspects.

A lust to acquire more wealth is considered bad because it can lead to a destructive focus on material possessions, neglecting other important aspects of life like relationships, health, and personal fulfillment, often driving people to unethical behavior, causing stress and anxiety, and ultimately leading to a sense of emptiness despite accumulating wealth.

The Ancient Sanskrit vedas too have a lovely insight in this aspect of human behaviours.

द्रव्यज्वरातुराणां तु शान्तये नौषधादयपि|

नहि वृष्टिशतेनापि पाषाणादङ्कुरोदयः||

Druvyajvaraturaanaam tu shaantaye naushadhaadyapi.
Nahi vrushtishatenaapi paashaanaadankurodayah.

Druvyajvaraturaanaam = druvya + jvara + aaturaanaam.
Druvya = money, wealth.
Jvara = fever.
Aaturaanaam = suffering from.
Tu = but, and.
Shaantaye = pacified.
Naushadhaadyapi = na + aushaadhaat + api.
Na = not.
Aushadhaat = by a medicine.
Api = even.
Nahi = by no means.
Vrushtishatenaapi = vrushti +shatena + api.
Vrushti = rain.
Shaten = by hundred times. Paashaanaadanjurodayah = paashaanaat +
ankur + udayah.
Paashanaat = on a stone.
Ankura = sprout.
Udayah = come up, rise.

It states that "Persons suffering from the fever of acquiring more and more wealth can not be cured of this fever by the use of medicines, in the same manner as rain falling over a slab of stone even one hundred times can not result in sprouting of a plant over it".

The lust for acquiring more and more wealth is like a disease whih cannot be cured by medicine. The pursuit of more wealth can quickly turn into greed, where the desire for material possessions becomes insatiable, leading to constant dissatisfaction even when acquiring significant wealth. Such lust may lead to stress and anxiety.
